Today I will 6/19
Good Morning! Tomorrow is Friday, thank goodness this full week of work is killing me (after 3 short weeks in a row). Today I will...get in 100 ounces of water, eat mindfully, keep myself occupied tonight with something other than grazing (perhaps laundry), get to bed before midnight and pack for the weekend. Yesterday I...get in all 100 ounces of water--yup, finally got back on track, take vitamins when I get home--totally spaced this until I went to take them this morning, go and get labs drawn--yup and the PNC clinic I went to here in Eden Prairie had to call Methodist to make sure the orders were correct because they requested so many tests, be a mindful eater--did good durning lunch, not so much at night, go to yoga--yup took a yoga sculpt class, which kicked my booty!, no eating after 8:00 pm--I am struggeling with this one and get to bed a whole lot earlier--due to the previous issue I was wide awake until 11:00 last night, then finally started to wind down.
Good morning,
Glad to see that you are back Diane! I enjoy reading your contributions. It looks like it is going to be another gorgeous day. I couldn't have asked for a better week to be recovering from surgery.
Today I will...1) be easier with myself and remember that I'm only 1 week post-op today and I do not need to act like I am 1 year post-op, 2) drink at least 80oz. water (this will be important since I'm not eating much and I've been slacking on the water), 3) spend more time with DH tonight and this weekend - I've been the main focus for the past several weeks and he deserves some more attention now Yesterday I...1) drink at least 64oz. of water - no, I was a little under this. I get to about 60 and then peeter out. 2) talk with surgery center about a few post-op questions including about moving to week 2 foods a day early since I'm so sick of milk and things mixed with milk - asked my questions and got the OK to move to solid foods - first meal didn't go well, second did, 3rd meal still being processed by pouchie but going better than I had planned. 3) continue to take all medications, vitamins, and supplements - seem to have this down but for the sublingual b-12 which tastes nasty. 4) take 1-2 brief walks and walk around at least 1-2 stores with DH tonight - no brief walks at home, did a lot of housework instead. Went to 2 stores with DH last night and did quite a bit of walking in them. He commented about how it looked like I was moving around a lot easier than before I started the liquid diet.
As of yesterday I'm down almost 45 pounds since starting the liquid diet and I am starting to see the difference and I can absolutely FEEL the difference! I get frustrated sometimes trying to figure out my new pouch, but when I step back and really take a look at the situation I'm VERY VERY happy with the results so far.

Wow 45 pounds that is terrific! Sounds like the food is getting a little easier to handle just remember to take it slow because right now you have a "baby" tummy. What brand of B-12 do you take? I take one that I got from Walgreens and it doesn't taste too bad. I can look up the exact brand when I get home tonight and let you know. 60 ounces is not too bad for water intake. It will get easier as you get further out because your pouch will be able to hold more it is always difficult right after surgery. Great job with the walking and house work, it is amazing how much easier things are after loosing some weight. Keep up the good work! ~Nicole
I agree with Nicole! 45 lbs is a great start!! Fantastic!!
I have to laugh at your first "WILL" I find myself thinking like I'm further out than I am. I was the same way when I got started and wanted everything to happen NOW lol almost expected that it would/should. I think it's the amazement that so much can and does happen in such a relatively short time!
It's so important to us though that we not rush our new pouchies. Boy do you pay when you do! and "Pouchie" has no moral dilemna about letting you know in spades lol
Keep up the good work. You've got a wonderful start on this roller coaster ride :)
*hugs*
Hello guys,
I'm taking a little break from the Today I will.........I haven't been doing very well with staying on track. So decided it wasn't worth posting........
I'm seeing my Bariatric nurse next Monday for my 6 month check up, I have so many questions for her like:
How do I control my head hunger?
I'm hungry sometimes after I eat, why?
How do I stay on track?
I don't have energy, so I've cut down on the exercise. How do I get energy? And is there a test to see why I have none?
I'm happy where I'm at, I've gone from a tight size 20 to a comfortable 8, and 1x tops to a size M. 229 pounds to 148-154 pounds it varies week to week.....But I'd like to loose another 10-18 pounds..........
You have all been wonderful and supportive, and I will rejoin you on this thread when I'm back on track better.........This tool was a gift, a gift I never thought I'd get, so I need to take control of my eating habits again because no one else can........
Thank you, Kelly
Kelly~That is very understandable, I do hope you are able to get some answers to your questions so that you can regain your footing on this path once more. I too have started getting frustrated with myself as I think my week and half vacation totally messed up my groove and I am having issues finding it again. I may have to go back to basics and measuring to get myself where I need to be. One thing about the hunger that ny nutritionist told me when I was having a similar issue was to add some whole grains (whole wheat toast w/the real grains you can see in it, or whole wheat crackers (I like the Kashi ones)) at the end of the meal as they will help you to feel fuller longer. Love & hugs! Nicole
Hi Kelly.
I hate to see you bow out but do understand... maybe could you pick one little thing to focus on? One that maybe isn't too much of an issue for you to maintain? It would keep your hand in and allow you some accomplishment!
If you find out answers to any of those, let us know would you?? That head hunger thing is a real demon... one I know I sure would like to exorcise!!
Are you drinking with meals? eating good solid protein? Those are usually my things when I find myself still hungry. I'm also to a point where it seems I can eat more. I'm not happy about this.
I know that for me, exercising gives me more energy throughout the day. When I miss it or do less than normal I feel myself dragged down. I never really noticed it but then started keeping track. I was really surprised. Not sure if it's a metabolism thing or what.
*hugs* to you in whatever you decide to do :) I"ll miss your posts here but look forward to chattering elsewhere on the board!
*huggles!*
Lori,
I'm not drinking with my meals or for 45 min. after. I'm not getting in my protein, I know that, so I bought those protein bullets 3oz. with 42 g. of protein. I've been making bad food choices, I'm not a protein gal, more of a carb person....So need to change it.......
I will let you know what the nurse says....
Thanks so much for the support.
Kelly
