New Here and Hello

I've been lurking here a little over a month while I waited for my first appointment.  I had it this morning and looks like I'm a good candidate for WLS. I want to say "hi" and to thank you for all the info I've found on this site.  It's been incredible to read about your experiences and your WOWs. I've even been taking notes along the way (I'm truly a geeky person).  I've appreciated how much you've all shared.   Mary

WELCOME! Don't be afraid to ask questions...we have been there and can give you the advantage of our experiences, but you will want to remember that EVERYONE has a different experience with this process, so take it for what it is - our individual experiences.  I am glad that we have been a help to you, and congrats on starting this Wild and Wacky journey of WLS!

Hi, Mary!!!   Welcome to the board.   I know I've sent you a message before but wanted to say hi again.   Not geeky to take notes....the more info you have the better it'll be for you.   Glad to see antoher Duluthian on here.    We're going to do coffee next Sun morning when Kelly is in town.   We'll post something next week when the time gets closer.   It'd be great if you can make it too.....it's very informal but very nice to have that close support.   It's nice to get together with a small group and be able to get info...sometimes the big support group here in town is hard to talk at and or hear everything.   Have you attended the support group at all yet?   It's the 4th Thur of the month at St Mary's....everyone is welcome no matter what surgeon or facility you are using.   Let us know if there's anything we can do to help you on your journey.

Are you talking about THIS Sunday, the 13th?

Quin and I are AGAIN heading to Wisconsin, this time for the funeral of my BIL's mom, God rest her soul. We're heading down on Sunday as the funeral is 2:00 Monday, in Minoqua. Heading back home Tuesday AM.  This will be the 4th trip in 2 months.  I  have to admit I'm getting a bit tired of long-distance hauling!  I do rationalize all the traveling as the 'last hurrah' before I start my career as a social worker......

What time and where? If it's around noon we should be able to make it to a gathering.

 

It would be great to see the 'Da-luthians' again!

Ahhh shucks...it's next Sun the 20th.   I'd meet up with you but we have a church picnic and softball game we're already committed to.   Sounds like your summer has been like ours.....always somewhere we need to go and not close by.   Hopefully we have  a couple of weeks break now before we head out at the end of the month AGAIN.     Too bad you have to be going for a funeral though.....never a fun trip.   Hopefully this fall we can get another weekend getaway up near Grand Marais or something.   I would sooo love to spend a weekend away with everyone.

I'm floating job apps and resumes all over the place--Wausau, Duluth, Vancouver, the province of Alberta....hopefully to get a job as a social worker who cares for the older adult population.   Maybe I'll get a jo b in the northern MN area!!

Mary, WELCOME........You've come to the right place......This is a wonderful board.....So many supportive caring people...... My son goes to UMD, I love Duluth, so much to do and see there......I'm coming next weekend for the airshow, should be fun..... Hope all goes well with your journey to WLS.....Keep us posted....
