Um, way longer than it would be without the RNY,

That's the thing about life...no one knows when they are going to die, so live it to it's absolute fullest.

I agree with Paul's perspective 100%! Your number could be up today. You never know when or why. Surgery or no surgery. By choosing surgery, you are definitely giving yourself a longer lifespan to look forward to, though.

Well I'm over 5 years out and in much better health now then before...so I know my odds are better.  I don't know when they did the first RNY - but I know there are some real old timers on the grad board or the main board.  The Vitalady - Michelle Curran is at least 10 years out I think now.

I agree with Paul - depending on how your health is now and how much you need to lose...your life and health will improve dramatically.

Good Luck!

I am a little over three years post-op and have out lived my mother who was obese (surgery was not an option then) by 10 years so far.  Nobody knows how things will go, we just do what we feel is right in our hearts and leave the rest to God.

Hi

I will be 6 years out in October. I have a friend who is 25+ years out. She is doing great. I am doing great as well. As others have said, our time could be up at anytime......but we are making our odds a little better for our health by having this surgery. Any time we can get the extra weight off, the better for our health.

Good luck to you. And give that beautiful daughter of yours a great big hug. Kids are so precious!!!! My daughters are 23 and 25 and I give them hugs everyday!! They're great kids.
