The Trouble With Cherries...

Anyone ever see "The Witches of Eastwick"?

Saturday, I bought some bing cherries at Cub.  I don't eat a LOT of fruit 'cuz of the carbs & having been diabetic and all, but I have always loved me some cherries!

So I ate one after I washed 'em and put them in a bowl for Travis.  ONE.  Less than 2 minutes later, I realized it was going to make an encore appearance - in my toilet!  Good grief, ONE CHERRY??  REALLY???  Must have been something else, although I couldn't think of it.  I really don't like tossing my cookies, it disgusts me.

Fast forward to tonight.  Finished up my little (FABULOUS) No-Name steak, and a little potato salad, then popped one cherry for dessert.  ONE.  Guess what?  Within a MINUTE, I had a repeat performance of Saturday night!

I just don't get it.  What could explain one little cherry mucking with me like that???  Not that it matters, I won't be trying THAT a third time!

Well Darla, Ain't that the pits!?!!!  Seriously though, that IS rather odd.  I've enjoyed the bing cherries without adverse effects, although sure can't eat a pound at a time like pre-WLS....three of them does it.  Good luck figuring this out!  Hugs, Patti

Its the SKIN on the fruit!  Id bet my bottom dollar it is.
When I had surgery they said fruit skins really annoy.  One cherry doesnt have enough sugar I wouldnt think to bug ya.
If your up to it try a peeled one................ or not LOL

Hugs and sorry about your tummy!

That totally sucks.  I *hate* upchucking and I'd be really miffed if it happened consistently with something that I really enjoyed, but was trying to enjoy in moderation.  (((darla)))  I heard the skins can be the problem too - try what the other poster said and try it peeled???

I suppose it COULD have been the skin, but I'm really quite good about chewing the dickens out of everything - and no other type of skin or fiber has ever done that to me, citrus, pineapple, NOTHING!

** sigh **   I guess if I'm gonna be honest, I'm TOO LAZY to peel a frickin' CHERRY!  Unless someone can show me one the size of a tangerine, I won't be bothering with THOSE again!

Very weird. I eat 5-10 cherries when I "need" a fruit snack every once in awhile, and I have never had a problem at all. Just goes to show how unique this experience is for each person. Sorry to hear you can't have them, there have been some good ones at Cub this year.

Yup!  That's exactly where I bought 'em!

How the heck is Florida?  I was kinda flabbergasted at how you & your family picked up & moved down there so quick - but hey!  If you're gonna move, WHY NOT Florida??!!   I LOVE that state!  Hope all is going smooth - enjoy the shell pickin' for me, I LOVE hunting for shells!!!

Florida is really good so far. We have seen so many critters down here, and on the 11th my daughter is FINALLY going to be here so the family will be complete. We have fun looking for shells early in the morning, but we had to limit ourselves to the really cool ones now or my condo would be overflowing! We have seen loggerhead turtle tracks on the beach but so far no turtles.  The pets really seem to like it here as well. The dog runs all over my fenced in patio chasing lizards and the cat sits in the window and stares at the goings on in the yard. My husband is enjoying work so far, well I don't know about enjoying, but he's making good money, and I am relaxing at home and having time to work out every day, so I am enjoying his work! I interviewed for a position on Tuesday, and should be hearing back today, so we'll see how that went. I am still holding steady on  my weight loss, but my tastes have really changed since surgery. I am eating more fish and seafood, which is great since there is so much fresh down here, and I suddenly like peppers.
