plastic surgery
REPEAT AFTER ME: "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SILLY QUESTION."
Okay. NO. Not everyone has PS after WLS. I would guess the majority do NOT, as it is not easy to get it paid for by insurance, and the cost is prohibitive to many. There are people who have good, solid medical reasons for NEEDING PS to get rid of the excess skin, who are denied coverage by their insurance co. Sad, but true.
I think the younger you are when you lose the weight, the better your chances for having your skin tighten up naturally - although probably not completely. (I'm SOOO screwed there...) HOWEVER, there are also people who are 2+ years past WLS who have remarked how they've noticed that their skin seems to tone up some even years after the fact!
IMHO, the weight loss is WORTH the less than attractive skin you're left with afterwords! I DETEST my batwings, but dang it - bat wings are better than ginormous sausage arms!!!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I would say most definitely not. The skin on my neck definitely has firmed up (with no special treatment) and my arms are a bit wobbly, but that can be attributed to unfortunate genetics (we call them "O'Connell arms" in my family.) Would I like the extra rolls around my middle to be totally gone? Yes. I have not made a concerted effort to really try to tone that area, so who knows if I could get it smaller on my own. Maybe.
A lot has to do with how much you lose, your age, genetics and exercise. IMO, I would not recommend plastics before two years at a constant weight. Give your body time to settle into its new self.
Take care.

I can't imagine me not having to find a way to somehow pay for PS for at least my tummy after surgery. It's so gross and floppy already, it will only get worse I'm sure after the fat is no longer underneath it. But I'm sure feeling healthy is going to feel better, regardless if I have to shove myself into
