OT: I HATE Cars!

I am so frustrated with my car, myself for not listening to my gut and my parents for not believing enough in me.  About a month ago my car acted up, it wouldn't start after I had stopped by my eye clinic but then after moving the battery wires around a bit it started so I drove it to a repair place that was open late and they ran a diagnostic, found it was a bad connection, changed it and sent me on my way, well 3 weeks ago it didn't want to start one morning so I popped the hood wiggeld the wires and it started, a week later same thing, then the past 3 days it has done that, but this morning after messing with it for 10 minutes it still won't start all the lights and radio come on, but it won't turn over, so I am sitting here waiting for  my Mom to get here because I don't have AAA and a tow, even to the shop 3 blocks away is quite expenisve without AAA.  Well yesterday after day 2 of my car not wanting to start right away I started seriously looking for a new car, hoping mine would work long enough to trade it in and get a newer one, but my mom and dad convinced me not to as they were going to see if my grandma wanted to get rid of hers since she hasn't driven in over 2 months, but found out when I talked to them this morning that is not going to work as grandma still wants the option of having a car.  So, now I am stuck having to take a day off work and getting my car fixed, hopefully this time it lasts longer than last time and I can last until this fall when I had initially planned on getting a newer car.  I had contacted a place in St. Paul Park that had some good vehicles, but dad is weary cause he says they are above KBB value and I think he actually wants me to get a vehicle up in Hinckley or Pine City.  Well, at least now I have time to get some stuf done around the house as I wait for my mom to drive down, with rush hour it will probably take her aound 2 hours to get here.

OOOOOOOOO, that stinks! I hope the fix isn't too expensive and it'll run great until you can trade it in. Think the battery needs new plugs and wires or think its more serious?

ps- don't let the car crap ruin how you eat today. Wouldn't it be awesome if aside from the stress of the car you did well? Let's be good together JUST FOR TODAY!

Nicole,

Cars are a bummer......If you do buy a used car make sure you have it checked out....We do that with all the used cars we buy, it costs about $30-50 for someone to look at it but it's worth it. Example: we were going to buy our son a car, brought it too a place, they looked at it and said there is about $2,000 in repairs that would need to be done right away. OMG.....Needless to say we brought it back to the car dealer and said NO THANKS.......And let him know what was wrong with it....He already knew, you could tell.........

Good luck, Kelly

I feel your pain, Nicole...  I endured the car from HELL at one time in my life, and the mere THOUGHT of car trouble makes me break out in a cold sweat!

I hope you can get your car up and running well enough to get a good TRADE IN for a newer one!!!

Ok, I read the topic title as " I HATE cats!"
I am really trying to put off my eye appointment til after recovery from surgery. I usually have a slight Rx change for some reason after surgeries...

Cars suck!! there ya have it.  I can buy a piece of junk and that is what it will be always!
I can buy a brand new off the show room floor car and it will still be a piece of junk!!
I have the worse luck with cars ever. As long as it has wheels(cars, bikes, skates you name it) and my name is on it- it is sure to break! We need to go back to the horse daysat least we could shoot them lol

I now drive a PT cruiser, nice car, looks pretty.
Yeah- I have had it 2 yrs or so. this far we have put into it
4,000.00 last summer for a new tranny and a complete cooling fan assembly.
Couldn't afford not to seeing as I still have payments on the damn thing.

Heed the advice and have them checked out prior to buying it. that is all I have to say, thats the whole truth and nothing but the truth (roseanna anna danna).

Go back to the same place that fixed it last time and demand they fix it for free. It was their job to get it fixed or to tell you otherwise. The LEAST they can do is give you a discounted rate.

Nicole....Cars certainly have a mind of there own. Just when things are going along like "I can't handle one more thing"...bam....car repair!!

I never have little repairs.... oh no...they are the big ones! My right side signal light won't stay on. I have to hold it on. I went in to the shop I have been going to for years. They never cause me anymore of a bill then they have to. Usually I get a discount because I send them other people. It is going to cost me $300 to get that fixed. The reason it is so much is because of the steering wheel and all the components on it. It all has to be taken apart and that is where the money is ....LABOR!!!
My son in law does some of my repairs but can't do that because it takes special tools to tear apart the steering wheel. I desparately need a new car. I keep holding out but I just know the time is near.

Good luck with your repair. Hope it is something easy and cheap to fix.

My insurance company...State Farm...only charges less then $10 a year to add road coverage to my car. That is towing , tires changed , etc.. You might want to check into it with your insurance carrier. AAA is great but too expensive for me.

Hi Nicole, so sorry of the car frustration.  My last two cars were purchased through Enterprise car rental company--once each vehicle hits 15,000 to 20,000 miles, they sell them used, with warranty, and bring in the brand new models.  They're in Spring Lake Park, and  it's definitely worth getting up and looking at what they have on hand and checking into a purchase.  I was confident with them, being aware their rental cars are consistently maintained Got a 1990 Ford Tempo in fall 1991--the weekend I bought it, it turned over to 15,000 miles, and I owned it for ten years with no hassles other than normal maintenance, though once it hit 150,000 miles (I always diligently kept up maintenance/oil changes) though was ready for something new and cool.  Fall of 2000, decided to trade in at Enterprise for a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage sport coupe--with only 22,000 miles on; had the awesome car for 18 months til I'd awoke with what was diagnosed as optic neuritis, leading to the MS diagnosis.  I highly recommend checking in to rar-rental returns through Enterprise, Avis,er, the 'big name' companies, not the 'get it now, cheap' setups!  Just food for thought hon!  And I believe this is the time of year they're getting in their next-year new models, and selection ought to be fabulous!  Good luck!  Hugs, Patti
