I am three years post op and have (due to serious stress) fallen off the wagon.  I have a new husband and new friends, but still am struggling.  Any chance anyone else out there is able to assist me with getting back on track and lose a few pounds?

Hey Tanya! Welcome! It's amazing the changes people start making once they reach out for support!! So congrats on taking that step!! There are also support groups around as well as people from the forum getting together for coffees.

I know the cities are far away from you...but perhaps it may be worth it to stop by a Burnsville coffee get together sometime. They are usually every other weekend on Saturday morning.

Also, Park Nicollet Clinic has support groups in St. Louis Park and Burnsville. Since Burnsville is closer to you, here's the info:

Second Tuesday of every month, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Park Nicollet Clinic—Burnsville
Conference Room B, 3rd Floor
14000 Fairview Drive
Burnsville, Minn.

Either way, keep coming back here! The support is life-changing!

2019: 11 years out and maintaining a loss of 150lbs.

Hi Tanya!

Boy...I'm sure not the one to give anyone advice on getting back on the wagon.  I jumped off a long time ago (!!!)  and am deciding if wls is right for me.

All I know is that I am amazed at what you have accomplished over the last several years.  Congratulations!!!
I'm not sure if you wrote while you were losing, now would be the time to go back and look at your journey in a new way - from the other side.  Remember how far you've come and how wonderful that ride was.

The people on this site are fabulous!  Come back here and see if there are others or a group by you?

Tanya,

If I can help I will......Go back to the basics......Water, Protein, don't drink at meals or for 40 minutes after.....etc.

Do you still have your plan from your Doctor?

PM me if you want to talk in private.

Kelly,

I have gone back to the basics, but with the current issues I'm facing it's so hard to remember to stay on track.  I'm a stress eater and always have been, but lately it seems that I'm recognizing what I'm doing and doing it anyway.

I do still have the plan from my Dr, but I'm living in an area that doesn't seem to have a Gastric Bypass Support Group.  I am seriously considering starting one.  Not only to assist me, but the others I know are out there.

Connie,

I greatly appreciate your praise.  I have a wonderful life now, but the things from my past that i keep trying to get away from are still haunting me.  I will add to my first post to explain my whole situation.

To all in this forum;

I thought I would try to give you some of my background to give you all a better understanding of what I am dealing with for stressers and in my life as a whole.

I've always been a "big" girl, but thought that there was nothing I could do about it and so just didn't really care about myself.  In 1995 I met and married a man I thought I knew 100%, but as it turned out I didn't.  We were married for about 11 yrs and during that time we had our  ups and downs. We also had three beautiful daughters together.  In February of 2005 my primary doctor flat out told me that if I didn't do something about my weight that I was going to die.  I was referred to Dr. Bakers office in Fridley and had my first appointment March 10, 2005.  After that appointment I made the decision to move forward and have the proceedure, but my (now ex) husband told me I was taking the easy way out and quit talking to me unless we were in public.  May 2, 2005 Dr Krook did my surgery and I haven't looked back, but about 8 mo later my ex and I had an arguement in which he threatened to throw me down a flight of stairs.  I left the next day, but left my girls there as he had never made me think that he would hurt them.  I WAS WRONG!  As it turned out, this man whom I gave 11 yrs of my life to was a known (but not to me) Level 3 Sex Offender and he had attacked my youngest two daughters.  Their therapist feels that he molested one of them and anally raped the other.  No, this man is not behind bars and yes, I am still fighting to put him there.

The youngest is the one he raped and I am dealing with serious behavioral and other problems with her and now she is also starting to have seisures.  As you can see I am dealing with serious stressers and staying on track is extremely hard.  Frankly, I'm amazed I have stayed fairly small, but in the last 6mo I have gained about 40 pounds that I really need to take off.  I can't cry anymore and I need to do something.

Thank you all for reading and understanding (even a little), I do appreciate it.

Honey....my heart is breaking for you...OMG!!

I too was a victim of child abuse....it has been a life long
battle to fight. I will send prayers and hugs to you and your sweet daughters. I pray you win and he ends up in prison where he belongs!!

Thank you for sharing. I am not sure how many will see this latest addition as most have already read the first post. There are plenty of people here that can relate and many that will care deeply about you and your family. If you don't get alot of replies it is only because they haven't seen the additional post.
