I am 5 months out and so glad I had surgery - truly a life changing event.

Lately however - i have been feeling really drained at the end of the day - like zero energy?  anyone else have this?  what am I low on?  I am getting at least 50 g of protein in - do i need to make sure more of it is earlier in the day?

Any ideas or insight? thanks! Linda

Linda,

For 3 months now I've been dealing with low energy.......My blood levels show I'm good though......Even my Thyroid has gotten better readings......It's a mystery.....

My Bariatric nurse did tell me to get in more protein....80g. For low energy and for grazing and turning to carbs......She has me taking the New Whey Bullet 3oz. in the morning which is 42g. of protein and then yogurt or an egg. That way it's 50g. of protein right away in the morning.......

Good luck......Let me know if you find something that helps too......

I have been doing my b12 shot religiously every 3 weeks (moved it up from a month at last doc)

and I have been doing biotin supplement in addition to multi

I am doing labs at 6 mos check up - so I will have a better idea if they are working.

thanks

I honestly think somtimes it just be's that way.  We are hyper senstive to changes in us due to our surgery that we kinda pick at things that are just following a course of whatever.
Your body has changed SO much... it might be playing catch up.  Of course watch it and get your labs checked, but maybe your body is just playing catch up.

Hugs to you sweetie..... losing that much weight is six months is ALOT of work !!!!!!!!!

Wait for your labs next month before adjusting things on your own.  It may be that you are doing more during the day to tire you out because of your increased energy (but you've gotten used to it so it just seems like you are dragging at night)!!!  Yeah!!

Could be the cooler weather.  Could be another hormone adjustment.  Could be it is full force allergy season.  Could be depression and/or current meds need adjustment (if you are on them -- or maybe need to be)  -- back to that hormone thing.  Sometimes exercising before dinner will give you a kick for the rest of the evening.  You could try switching things up a bit.

Hang in there -- you sure looked great on Saturday!!!  Keep working the tool baby!!!!

Hey Linda!  As I said before, looking fabulous!

Be sure you are taking Vitron C iron.  That makes a world of difference.  And I know that our bariatric nurse highly recommends it - versus regular iron supplements.

I think our bodies are just trying to catch up with us!  If you think about it, most of us went from a pretty sedentary life to a very, very active life.  If you are concerned about labs, get them checked out.  Otherwise don't worry about it.  Unless, of course, it is severe!  Our bodies are in shock and it is probably a good year before it catches up with us..

For me, the lack of energy at 4 months out was all in my mind.  I was looking for excuses to rest because mentally I wasn't ready for the energy.  I'm "normal" again.  Whatever that is!

Next week - kids back to school!  Take a day to yourself and do something relaxing!

Linda, as you know I'm not on your side of the game yet, but I would totally say to increase your protein. If you're getting in most of it from food sources, then supplement each day with the powders or bullets, whichever you can tolerate.

Even though this gal is a DS'er, she shared some great info after spending time with Vitalady. I'd really encourage you to see if anything Lori talks about helps you and it might be worth an email to Vitalady as well! She really is here for all of us!!! http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/vitalady/

I find that too many sugar free things like crystal light make me triend. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to get your labs done. I was also low on vit D and had to add that.
