It's FUN to STAY at the YMCA....way more on topic than you want!
August 31st......
The fall membership drive at your LOCAL Y ends on the 31st. What does this mean for you?
If you sign up during the drive, they will WAIVE the enrollment fee...for a family that's like 80 bucks!
MOST employers will help you pay your fee. For me, I can trade a sick day for the whole amount (minus payroll tax). Maybe your's will cover it. Even if you are not quite ready to join a club, consider it for now and then try it out. The Y has special promotions where you can buddy pass in one person per month.
A membership at your local Y gets you in to ANY of the metro Ys. Some have water parks, some have volleyball or wallyball or racquetball, or climbing walls, or swimming or whatever. How cool would it be to get a group together and play WALLYBALL (like volley only it uses walls...set up in a racquetball court. Or just hook up and go walking indoors during December...or how about a hot tub in January after working out? Doesn't matter what shape you are in, because we ALL have the same goals and we can cheer each other on.
Me, racquetball has always been my favorite thing. It's easy to learn HOW, just takes some motivation to get' er' done....
Wal-Mart has racquets for about 6 bucks! Get your self some NON-marking court shoes that you will dedicate to only wearing indoors...get yourself a wrist band and/or head band, and a can of balls (2-3 bucks). If you are a member of a Y, there is NO additional charge for court time, just have to make a reservation. RB can be played with 2, 3, or 4 people at a time. 1 can play, but honestly it's not very fun. If you want to give it a shot by yourself, try it.
So who is already a member? Who plans on joining some day? Who wants to learn to play RB with the C'man?

Paul,
I have to go check out my YMCA in St. Cloud yet....Haven't been up that way yet, Saturday maybe......
I would love to play a game with you. I used to play with my hubby when we were dating 23 years ago, it's a good workout....I remember being a sweatball when we were done......I think I still have my raquet too.
