OT Foster care

Hey I was wondering if any of you do foster care?  My hubby and I are thinking of doing foster care and have info coming from the state.  Just wanna know if any of you do and what it's like?   Thanks!!!!!!!

Don't personally know anything about foster care, just that it takes special folks to share their home and take on the responsibility of foster kids.

Bless you if you decide to to do this. Like every place in the world, there is a shortage of foster homes

My husband and I did foster care for 4 years. We only took school age kids (and not older then 16). It's hard work and for us working with the county was very difficult. Our very first kids came under a VERY bad situation but we were told NOTHING! We ended up having the police at house three times while the kids were in our care. Then after 4 months in our care mom called one days and said she was coming to get her kids (and she did) but the oldest boy was running down the streets because he didn't want to go home and it took the police catching him and forcing him into the car to go to back to his moms. We kept in touch with the kids for a couple of years but then she moved out of state again and they were placed into foster care again.
If you have the love but yet can still not get "attached" then I would say go for it. The kids are great (not all) but most times it's the parents that need the help. Something to remember is the parents will know where you live and they have every right to come to your house after the 48 hour police hold and there is nothing you can do. They come into your house and treat you like crap because you have their kids.
If you ever want to talk more let me know and I would be glad to let you know all about what happened to us here in Washington County. And I don't want to scare you we had some great kids and great parents but they all just needed some help and that was what we were there for.
