STRICTURES SUCK!
UGH! It might be a simple fix, but when you have to have it done several times to correct the problem--it just plain SUCKS! I was at Fairview Ridges today for my second EDG in a week. My stoma was 6mm at the clinic last week. He couldn't fix it in clinic because it was too small. I have Dr. Link from GastroEnterology--he is REALLY NICE! The only sunshine in all of this!
I get there this morning and they tell me that they may not be able to do it today because they don't have the right size dialator. WHAT! Are you kidding me! The called around to several hospitals and had the right sized one sent over from Southdale. So, my 8:30 scope started at 9:45--so not too bad. Ugh, this one was much worse than the one last week. They had trouble starting the IV and stuck me FOUR times. I feel like a pin cushion.
All of that and he only dialated it to 8mm! I have to go back in 2-3 weeks to go through it all again. He said he will dialate it to 10mm at that time. Is it normal to have to have this done several times to fix? I am sooooo tired!

"Think twice.....Cut ONCE"
I do recall reading somewhere that it can take more than one attempt to get a stoma open to where it should be. And I have NO DOUBT the whole thing SUCKS ROCKS!
But, I also trust that once your doc gets your plumbing fixed to his liking, you will begin to see the UPside of this whole WLS life, and that the day WILL come when you look back and think - 'ya know what? I'd STILL do it again!' (Ask Angela, the gorgeous "Tuckang"...)
Until that day comes, you have my prayers for comfort, healing, and a positive attitude!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Sorry you are having to deal with this. I am sure you are tired of doctors and hospitals.
However, it is necessary and you will be glad when it is done. I know of others that have had to have it done more then once. Now they are feeling great!!
Prayers and good thoughts coming your way!!
Hugs, connie d

You are what you EAT and WHO you hang out with! Choices=Outcome~ what's YOUR choice??
I'm not perfect but I am going to die trying!!!
I've never had this kind of stuff done, so I can only imagine how terrible it is. As the others have mentioned--you'll be glad you had it done and then it'll be finished. Unfortunately this is how some people's journeys go.
My prayers that your medical problems will be over soon, and that your
journey be blessed.
