Law & Order Caused Me to Become Obese???

I couldn't believe my eyes.  MSNBC has an article about shows like Law & Order, Cold Case, CSI, etc cause people to think about their own mortality.  Researchers conducted four experiments revealing that “consumers who have been recently reminded of their own impending mortality” spend more on groceries — and actually eat more of those groceries

What's next?  Playing a musical instrument may cause cancer?

My obesity was caused by MY overeating.  It was caused by MY food choices.  It was caused by MY lack of exercise.  Reports like this are just allowing people to blame someone else for their own failures.  Whatever!

At least they didn't blame Chef Ramsay or Hell's Kitchen for my obesity.  Ok, just an opportunity to brag about how gorgeous he is!

THat's bull... when I was more overweight, I never bought groceries -- haha - I just went out to eat all the damn time...

And watching those shows doesn't make me think about death... I just like the twists and turns...   and am  proud to have my shelf stocked with every available season of Law & Order: SVU and CSI: Miami, lol.....

I am shocked by how much our society looks to blame others for our own unhealthiness!  I agree with you Kelly and I believe society today needs to learn to be accountable for their own actions and the results of those actions.  Just because you see a TV show where someone dies does not give you the right to say "to heck with it I am just going to eat whatever I want because someday I am gonna die".  The other thing to keep in mind with studies like this (we just covered research in my Abnormal Psych class) is that the media will often skew the information or report only a portion of the results in order to make it a good story so perhaps this is just MSNBC's way of making an interesting story people will read to get their numbers up...with media now days who knows!

I knew it.  I knew it all along that there was something about HORATIO CAINE that made me want to eat.  Just one look at that hair and my hand was reaching for the chips.

I'm thinkin class action now...whose with me?

Not so much into the CSI series.  But I know FOR SURE when I see Detective Lily Rush on Cold Case, I want to shove a hostess cupcake or two or three down her throat.

How ridiculous - what a bunch of hooey.  Like it wouldn't have *anything* to do with the fact that I sit around and watch 3 different versions of CSI, Law & Order, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, and on and on and on that would have contributed to my fatness.  If I want to be better then I will either 1) no****ch those shows (not gonna happen) or 2) watch them while exercising (more likely) or I'll make a way to get them all in.
