General question on sugar & protein shake question

OK, I have a dumping question. I know everyone reacts differently and can handle more or less sugar, but- Will the natural sugar in fruit make you dump like a spoon full of sugar in your coffee might? Or do natural sugars act differently in the body? Does Splenda make you dump, like regular sugar does? Just curious.

Also, in preparation for RNY eventually, (hopefully before year end) I've been sampling various protein shakes and I did buy one of those Magic Bullets. I notice that it really foams up some of the shakes, will all that air/foaminess be an issue after surgery?

I have not had a problem with fruit or Splenda (but now I use Stevia).
I have noticed with my protein shakes made in a blender type gizmo that I get a little bloated from all the air frothed into it so I try not to blend it very long.
Everything is trial and error.

I have never had a problem with fruits or Splenda, but sugar alcohols, in various products that are either sugar free or no sugar added, makes me miserable. I can do around 10-12g sugar in a product, but more than 11-12 sugar alcohols, and OUCHIE. Like others said, everyone is different. I found out last night that warming up the liquid before adding the protein makes it blend really smoothly. I discovered Latte flavoured Nectar last night, mixed it with Lactaid milk, and OMG I thought I was drinking a wonderful cappucino! I add some ice when I mix protein in the Bullet, and that seems to help a bit.

Hello! So I keep reading about these 'magic bullets' ... what is it? Obviously not what I thought it was!       And is it something I should have with my surgery coming up?

Hey Teresa - The Bullet is just a small, countertop blender that's advertised on infomercials.

*Edited to say - No, you don't NEED it, but it is handy and small, doesn't hog up a lot of counter space. I've only used it for protein shakes so far.

I have a small blender type that I like...bought from QVC, it's from the 'Cris Fretag' line.  Just throwing that out so maybe you could do a price comparison.

I saw the Cris Fretag one too a while back, way more affordable. I should have just ordered it on there, totally forgot about it. I used to be such a qvc addict. I'm slowing down more since having Lauren, but flipped through earlier today and couldn't resist the Today's Special Value silicone cookware set. O

They make awsome smoothies and margaritas (sugar free of course) I have also used it to shred meats, cheeses, mix my chicken salad, and chop up garlic. They are handy. You can buy them at Walmart, Target, etc, as well as flea markets.
