Graphic, Sorry. I Need Some Info Please...
Has anyone else experienced this?? I'm ending Day 7 of my 14 day pre-op liquid diet & I've had diarrhea since the evening of Day 3, (Friday). I called the doctor's office bright & early this past Monday morning. The nurse said I could take Imodium, which I have, but as of this post there's been no change
. My Lap Band surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, 10/22.
Any ideas and/or suggestions out there?
Thanx so much!

I had the same problem I was on liquids for 14 days and about day 11 it started when I was out walking my dog!!
The problem is not only because you have not had any solid foods but most of what you are getting is sugar -free and not everyone can tolerate the subsitutes well in such large quantities.
It happened to me after sugar-free pudding so I stayed away from that I it went away. Try to change your menu up- more tomato soup, milk, popsciles.
Good luck- it's worth it, just hang in there.

Hi LynnMarie & thanx for the info.
You make an interesting point with the sugar free subs, in addition to some of the other posters who've said it may also be lactose intolerance. Unfortunately I cannot change my pre-op menu, since my doctor requires only sugar free items beforehand.
I'm hangin'!

Have you tried adding acidophillus to your diet? I had surgery and had the "runs" for weeks, and the suggestions from the surgeons office were not helpful. I added acidophillus tablets and within 2-3 days, no more problems. Sometimes it's just a matter of adding the correct bacteria back into your gut. Also, if you are looking for a protein powder that has no artificial sweeteners, I recommend Jay Robb egg white powder. You can buy it at whole foods, and also on line. Just google Jay Robb. I also use natural, non caloric sweeteners like Stevia. I hate the artificial sweeteners. I also use Agave syrup, which comes from the agave plant, but is a sweetener that has a very low glycemic index, so it tastes sweet, but doesn't give your body a rush like sugar.
So, good luck.
So, good luck.
Happy Girl shared my thoughts exactly. Liquid in, liquid out. It was that way for me, too, but I guess I didn't think to worry about it - just took it for what it's worth and never looked back!
As long as you're not suffering any other "symptoms", I wouldn't be too concerned - just think how nice & CLEAN your innards will be come surgery day?!
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
