Surgery tomorrow! I'm in a panic!
Is that normal? I have been wanting to do this for so long, and it felt like it would never come. I have done a TON of research, read this, and other forums daily, I am well informed, but now that the time is here, I am in panic mode! Does everyone else feel this way?
I have been SOOOO excited, up until lastnight, when the worry set in!
I have news for ya - you are TOTALLY NORMAL!
I always say I'd be more concerned if you DIDN'T experience the fear pre-op! It IS a big deal you're putting yourself through. But you've done your research and obviously come to the conclusion that WLS is YOUR answer to fighting obesity. Your doctors and insurance co. have approved you. Now it's your turn to just have FAITH that this will go smoothly. We will pray for you - whether or not you are personally into the power of prayer, we have all seen what it can do.
You know what the risks are for having this surgery. But if you compare the slight risks you face with surgery, to the almost CERTAIN issues you face without it, you might find yourself with a bit of calming perspective coming over you.
We'll be watching for the post that you're OUT of surgery, and we'll be waiting for you on this crazy "loser's bench"! Good luck, honey

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Yes, panic is normal. I don't know one person who hasn't paniced or felt like it might not be the right thing to do a few days before surgery. I did. I thought that if I could handle the two week liquid diet, why not just continue that and lose weight without surgery? Ah, the answer is "because I wouldn't follow that diet knowing that I COULD cheat". For me, surgery was the best thing I've ever done. I don't regret it for one minute.
Be sure to walk and sip water. Its not as bad as you think it will be. Soon you will have so much motivation to keep on going - you won't know what to do with all of the excitement! Best of luck!

I made the list, spent the day cleaning the house so it would be ready for my recovery, and then came here and looked at all the before and after pics of people, and realized just how close I was to getting the chance to look as wonderful and be as healthy as all of those people, and then I said my prayers, and freaked out some more.
