Something weird happened....
I am wondering if this has happened to any of you since surgery...maybe something is wrong and I should get checked out??
Here is the scoop: Yesterday I was shopping at Walmart, I grabbed a cart from outside. I then went to the bakery to pick out a birthday cake for my son...when I felt tingling in my left fingers...I looked at my fingers and they were all white at the tips????? After about 15 minutes they turned to normal color and the feeling was normal.
This happened to me again while driving home...again hands were touching something cold...my cold steering wheel?
So are my fingers turning white because they are froze or what do you think could be happening?
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly apprecaited...I am a little worried about this!!
Thanks
Jodi

This could be circulation or nerve issue. I think it would be a good idea to check it out with your doc. I had tingling and numbness in hands and arms a while back, it was a nerve being pinched in my neck. But it was pointed out to me that numbness can be a sign of much bigger issues, like demylanization (sp?), and that can cause permanent damage, so better safe than sorry. Demylanization is when our bodies start to feed on the protein that protects our nerves, and when we lose that, it's gone forever and causes permanent damage. This is not a regular occurrance for post-ops, but is is more likely to happen to us because of our protien needs. If we aren't getting enough orally, the body turns on itself.
WOW!! I would go get checked out by your doc! Better safe then sorry!

I'm not perfect but I am going to die trying!!!
Could be Raynauds Disease - a cirulatory problem, not necessarily related to WLS. I've had it for years (my mom and sister too) and I'm getting more sensitive as time goes on. Google it for more info and check with your doc. For me, it's mostly annoying, but I may take medicine for it during the coldest months this year. Gotta talk to my doc about it.

Call your doctor. I know of one person who had a B-12 defiancy after WLS and developed some nerve damage. After I met her (she walked with a leg support) I asked my surgeon about lack of B-12 and he said that there are warning signs prior to nerve damage. You should check in just to be sure. Good Luck.
My mother in law has this, I'm sorry, I forget the name right now. But she has a terrible time in winter because it happens when her hands get cold. Then when they start to warm up they tingle and hurt. She said its not a circulatory problem though. But she could be wrong, she is half-crazy!!
Go to the doc to make sure, but I am not sure there was much she could do medically. Maybe invest in some eskimo-grade mittiens??
