18 months out and a new WOW
Wow Darla Congrats to you!! Its funny that you wrote this and Ironic for me this morning. I went to the Varsity theater to see my good friend Nathan Anderson Play ( would that be considered a plug??? ) and we were talking he said Jimmy I can't even remember you as a heavy person!! I just sat there and thought about it and like you it hit me! that people see me as a NORMAL PERSON!!!!!! Not as the miserable depressed overweight person who was 175lbs heavier! It just amazes me every day when i hear stories like yours!! Here's wishing you continued success on your journey!!

But isn't it just the STRANGEST THING?? I've had that conversation several times recently - I look at all my beautiful (and HANDSOME) WLS friends, and I honestly can't remember any of 'em FAT! When I see pre-op or early post-op photos of people, it just messes with my head, 'cuz I don't remember EVER seeing people the way they were then - only as they are NOW!
Except for myself, of course. 45 years of looking at THAT in the mirror ain't going away anytime soon...

That must have been such an amazing wow moment. I know what you mean about coming into a room with a bunch of athletic or skinnies.... and feeling like you're the odd woman out. You are doing such a great job Darla - and before you know it..... you'll perhaps see 199 on that scale!!!!!

Darla Sweetheart! You normal.....it's really an oxymoron! You're extrordinary!!!! Congrats on your surgivary and a half and congrats on the first step to seeing yourself as others see you!!! Yes, a normal sized person...well, except for the height!! Take a loooooong look at yourself in the mirror now and repeat after me....I'm normal, I'm normal!!
The first time that struck me was when I was with my sister at WalMart. I was at one end of an aisle and she was at the other and she suddenly screams my name.... "EDITH!!" I calmly said, "What?" And she exclaimed...."I lost you! You look so normal that I can't pick you out in a crowd anymore!" I still like to "hide in plain sight" from her, but she'll always be my short biker tattooed little sister!

I just can't do it!!!I know I'm always gushing over your ravishing beauty, your killer smile & all, but YOU have been one of MY inspirations ever since I first met you at PNC - for all your struggles and everything you've been through this past year+, you ALWAYS have a genuine smile on your face, and love in your heart.
You flatter me with your friendship. YOU are one of my heros, Edi. Truly.

You look amazing!!! You no longer look like the grandma I thought you were when I first met you! As I looked at you this weekend I just couldn't believe how skinny (YES I SAID SKINNY) you have gotten...you're darn close to gettin' called Chicken Legs girl!! You have really worked that tool and taken advantage of it every step of the way. You have offered so much support and love and encouragement to others along this journey too! You are an inspiration to many, but most importantly you are an inspiration to ME!!!
