Well the first big day is here I start the LD. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Just looking forward to getting through this step in the WLS journey. I have lost the 10 lbs that I needed to although I did weigh myself in the morning i will fool myself any way I can LOL. But now any extra weight I drop from the LD is a bonus. I hope the next two weeks go well and that I don't get to irritable and short with my family because I'm starving. Question do you get very hungry on the LD or not.

I will be straight up honest with you about the LD the first couple of days SUCK!  But, it gets better over time because the first couple of days your body is detoxing from all of the sugar and carbs that are in the "normal" person's diet.  The one thing that I found saved me was having plenty of sugar free popsicles and a variety of flavors of sugar free jello premade so I could just grab it and eat it when I felt like I needed to eat.  That and make sure you get in enough protein from milk/protein shakes/sugar free carnation instant breakfast (SF-CIB) or you will feel like your stomach is going to eat your backbone!  I am not even kidding.  I had my surgery scheduled so quickley that I didn't have my dietician consult to tell me how to do the LD until after 3 days of being on the LD so all I was having was water, crystal light and Special K protein water...needless to say that whole stomach eating backbone thing was quite difficult to deal with.  Once I started drinking the milk with SF-CIB that feeling went away.  Those are my couple of cents worth of information.  That and keeping the goal in the front of your mind can help really get you through those tough times.  If it is any consolation I was on the LD while helping my sister make Christmas cookies/desserts, talk about temptation, but just knowing that I was on my way to be a healthy me so I could play with my nephews and be around to see them grow up and that was what kept me going.  I pray that you are able to fly right through the next 2 weeks and then surgery and recovery.

YAY TIM!!!

Ya know what?  I think the LD is a state of mind.  I was SO READY for the whole deal, it really didn't bother me!  And I will take it one step further - I thought the LD ROCKED!  Yes, the world DID start playing approximately 37 times the normal number of fast food commercials that very morning, and yes, my sense of smell became REALLY intense!  But I thought it was about the easiest thing to do - it was so simple, so clear!  I've never had more clarity in my diet!  If I could drink it, it was allowed!  (No, brownie batter is NOT a liquid.)

I beat my self up twice during those 10 days - once, I was clearing dishes and absent-mindedly licked some cream of mushroom soup off my thumb.   The second time was when I took communion the Sunday before surgery - I ate a WAFER!!!

It's all in your attitude.  DECIDE  you're gonna LOVE not having to think about what to eat!  DECIDE you're gonna drop another 10 pounds - OR MORE!!!

I bet you do!

I am with Darla.... I, too, thought the LD rocked. It cleared my mind and really helped me focus on my journey to come. Granted... the first few days were tough (just to get into the groove)... but once I did it, I did it.

Praying that your liquid diet will be painless in the first couple of days and you will succeed with flying colors for the remaining days.  If you do feel like you need support, please post on OH asap!
We have a bunch of wonderful people here to help if necessary, I also pray for a uneventful surgery with a very speedy recovery.

God Bless and Take Care,

Erika

How exciting - 2 weeks to a new life -Whoo Hoo!

You can do this - the LD starts the food as fuel thought process - Im gonna throw Sugar Free popsicles out there as your lifeline - they are liquid but it at least lets you chew something.

Best Wishes!  Congrats on your 10# down - and here's to many more!

I personaly enjoyed the two week liquid diet. I felt great getting rid of all the stuff in my system. I felt renewed!!

Like everyone has said the first couple days are the worst. Keep yourself in a positive frame of mind. Keep your eye on the PRIZE!!!
