Global Market on Chicago and Lake.
This link lists two options for coffee, but there is a third not listed here and it happens to be my favorite coffee in the world, but it's not for everyone. Its TURKISH coffee, served in a tiny cup, super hot, super authentic and super thick...kinda like sweet crude oil. You have to find your way to the HOLYLAND deli, amongst the olive oil, and request it at the counter. You may get a surprised look from guy behind the counter, or you may get an awkward smile, or he may even say "are you sure?" But he'll serve it up gladly. There are tables around the deli, it's not really something you can take to go, so your friends that got there cofffee around the corner can join you.
If you've never been to the Global Market, it's open year round in the old SEARS tower. Saturday AM is when I go (when I do). Everything is open by 10 and there is free parking on SAT. Shop for fresh produce, exotic meats, imports(gifts/food) from the Holy Land, China, Sweden,Mexico, and several other places. The coffee places linked above do open early. A favorite thing to buy for me is FRESH HOT PITA Bread for really cheap. At 10:00 there is a short international parade that goes through the entire layout. Also, live entertainment, always free, is common.
DUNN BROTHERS on the old HOMESTAD
This is a classic place. This is a ROASTING facility and has several quaint rooms and is very cozy. You will not want to leave. Caribu is GREAT. Starbucks gets daily job done, but these locations are worth the drive.
Where are YOUR classic locations? Put some links in?

Global Market is awesome! Thanks for sharing Paul. I've never tried the coffee, will need to do that next time I'm there.
Thanks for the link.
I love quaint little places and for a basic cup of joe & one helluva piece of dessert, I LOVE the Corner Coffeehouse! I don't know if they have a website, so this will have to do.
