OT - Help - Anyone know anything about Shingles???
I am going to whine & I'm not a whiner. I was sick in bed all weekend with creepy skin - thought I was getting the flu but didn't really feel sick, Just tired and creepy. Went to urgent care at 5:30 last night & they said probably a virus. Went to bed at 8:30 & noticed a chafe-like rash between my butt cheeks (sorry, TMI). Put a tissue to keep it dry. Woke up at 1 am in extreme pain with a blistery rash spreading over my buns and in "front". Went to dr this am - shingles. I have NEVER hurt this bad! I thought shingles happened when you are older. I am too young for the vaccine, but Dr. says it can happen at any age. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! Help - any suggestions? I am on Acyclovir 5x a day. Hasn't helped with the pain yet. Can't sit, stand, lie down or sleep. I took a teaspoon of percoset from after my surgery & even that didn't help! OWie! I just need to whine. Anyone have any cheese?

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. First off, I am NOT a doctor, but had a suggestion that might work for you. My father-in-law used to have shingles. He was in severe pain. At the time, my husband and I were members of Melaleuca. I had used their oil on my daughters when they got the chicken pox and it worked marvelously. So, I thought, maybe it would work for him as well. We gave him the oil to use and it helped trememdously. It was the best relief he had gotten from anything else he had tried.
This was many years ago and I no longer belong to Melaleuca. I don't know if their concept has changed. Before, you used to have to have a business with them to order. I don't know if this has changed or not. I just remember how pleased my father-in-law was with the relieve he got when using the oil.
