Hi,

I know I don’t post on here very often, I'm more of a lurker. I'm just really doing a lot of reading and trying to prepare for what's to come. Also, I've been having a little hard time finding my place on this board. So many different forums.

I have my last psych appt next week, hopefully it wont take too much longer after that. I do not have to do the structured WL per my ins. I am very happy for that. I guess after they receive my eval then I go in for a teaching appt and then meet with the surgeon (ins approval that is). I was kind of hoping to have the surgery before the end of the year but not likely.

I did have some recent blood work done. I found out my glucose and insulin levels were high. I need to go to an endocrinologist in 2 weeks. Not sure how that is going to effect this process. I have never had blood sugar issues in the past, this is new for me. I'm sure they will put me on a diet and maybe some meds.

WELCOME!!!  And congrats for coming out of lurker mode - we can all be way more helpful if you post your questions or concerns.  I hope you feel comfortable here, I know I rarely venture outside this MN board anymore.  I get what I need here!

What program are you going through?  Others who have gone through the same may have some good insight for you.  As for the blood sugar, if they hit you with a diagnosis of diabetes, DON'T FREAK OUT.  In fact, adding that as a co-morbidity can help get your surgery approved.  I was diagnosed in 1999, and spent years in denial before I accepted it and really worked to control it.   At one point, I was taking a total of @ 150 units of insulin a day - since surgery, I might take 10 units at night, if I've been naughty.  My Doc may even declare me DONE with it when I see him this Friday!    Many people are done with it a very short time after surgery.  And honestly, if I still have to take a whiff of it once in a while for the rest of my life?  I'm still WAY better off than I was!

Good luck to you on this journey - don't be a stranger!

Hello....glad you popped back in!!

I love this board and all these wonderful people. This is like home. Ask any questions no matter what they are. Nothing is too silly or unimportant if it is important to you.

As for your blood sugar being high......don't be concerned about that. Like Darla said it will help you to get the surgery. I was diabetic and am not anymore. This surgery is a great help with diabetic issues.

We are here for you......anytime!!

Hugs, connie d

Hi Welcome!  I was a lurker for a long time, but once I attended my WLS info session about 6 months ago, I started to participate a bit more. I really hope you'll come to one of the Saturday coffees. EVERYONE is so supportive and will welcome you, I promise.
