Speaking of coffee-  I know you're not supposed to have caffine after surgery.  I forget if that's just directly after or "forever."   How long did you guys wait to have caffinated?  Do the things like Northern Light Lattes from Caribou fair ok on the new tummy? (I wonder about the SF syrup- whats in that)

I got the OK for caffeine and pop from my nutritionist at my first appointment post op with her.. I'd like to say it's aruond 2 months or something? As bad as it is for you, I am HIGHLY caffeinated as of late!

Hmm, maybe sugar-free, skim latte? Not sure... I don't have sugar issues with the band. I would maybe ask LindaAnne - I think she works at a 'Bou!

Do a skim latte with splenda... dont venture into the sf's yet they might turn on you!

I know when I was "fresh" Pre~op I used those Folgers decaf to go packs with milk and splenda.  NOT LIKE the 'Bou but it does cut out the craving for the taste of coffee.

About 3 weeks out of surgery, I had a Caribou date with a friend from school that I hadn't seen in forever. Not wanting to give the time with my friend up, I sucked it up and drank Mango iced tea. 2-4 packets of Spelnda, and it makes things better. My surgeon says no milk, no soy milk, etc. (too many calories to drink) so it killed lattes for me, which I'm still mourning a little... but if you get strong normal coffee, and put splenda and milk in it, it should be OK. Not the same, but *shrug* life isn't the same anymore. Live and learn!

I am three weeks out and can handle a sugar free nonfat latte no problem.  They said I could have milk and milk products so coffee has become a new friend. Sadly they offered me a free shot tonight which is why you see me posting back to you at 12:30 in the morning.  O_O

More then anything its trial and error.  Take a sip wait a few see how the little guy feels.  If its bad or unpleasant thats your warning that much more will be all down hill.  granted you can not listen to that warning but.... well.... thats a bad idea.

Just a day at a time...  thats all you can do.
