HELP!!!

Ok, ever since starting my starvation, I mean liquid, I mean modified liquid diet last Sunday (1000 calories or less, mainly protein shakes. Sometimes a protein bar, lean cuisine meal or cheese once a day as well) I've had this sort of feeling in my throat, right between the clavicles, you know, that little indent there.  I feel like maybe it's hunger really up high, or like if I could just clear my throat it would go away.  Or even if I could eat something like bread to push the feeling down. It's hard to explain, but I wonder if others eating very little, or after WLS have this feeling.  I don't like it. I notice it often during the day.  It doesn't hurt , it's just annoying and uncomfortable. Anyone else have this?

**Revised to say, or it almost feels like if I could get out a really big burp or something.  Or like when you eat too much peanut butter and it sort of feels stuckish. (I know that's not a word)  I keep trying to swallow hard to get it to go away. Sometimes it feels like it makes a difference, sometimes not.

Hmmm, all I can think of is some sort of bug that's going around.....as my mother (who is an RN) says "Better safe then sorry".....see if there is a minute clinic you could go to or if it's not that bad make an appointment.  Try drinking hot teas and stuff to soothe the throat.

Kristy-give your doctor a call-you could be having some acid reflux.  There are some different meds you could take for it.  however, I am not a doctor, neither do I play one on TV, so go to the pro, okay?

good luck-

I'm thinking like Lynn...heartburn or acid reflux maybe?

Try chewing some Tums and see if that helps.

Acid reflux would make sense, except I take Prilosec, have for years. I wonder if since my diet has changed so much from so much carb to mostly protein if something isn't up with that.  I wonder if Prilosec can stop working? Ugh!    This is exactly the type of feeling I am SO fearful of having, lifelong, after surgery.  Oh boy!

If you are already one who suffers from the acid reflux, this could be a flare up because of the change in diet.   GET THEE TO A DOC-or at least call, if you have a nurse line they could help.  I don't know if Prilosec can stop working or not, but it may be you need a bump in dose, or a different PPI (proton pump inhibitor-that's what it does)  One thing I do know is that a lot of people who have surgery no longer have the acid reflux afterward-so you could actually look forward to NOT having this afterwards!!

my 2 cents-once again, not a doctor-so ask the pro!!
