Panic
I just need to talk to/vent. I made an appointment to see a psychologist but they couldn't get me in until December, which was fine. Well they just called with a cancellation and can see me at 10. Who knew that the hardest thing about this whole WLS would be the stuff that goes on in your head. I'm nervous cause and scared, hard to put into words as to why, but I just am.
Alana:
With a history of depression I was more worried about getting through the psych evaluation than about meeting the pre-surgery weight loss goal or learning the post-surgery protein/liquids/supplements/exercise routine. It turned out, for me at least, to be a non-issue. In fact, I have been seeing the psychologist who did the evaluation once/month since to help me deal with the emotional part of this journey. Whether you deal with issues before or after surgery, I would encourage you to be patient with it because I think the emotional aspect of the journey is harder than all the physical discipline stuff. Afterwards, you won't be able to rely on food as much or as often for comfort as you have been able to do. You will also find that some (not all) people treat you differently when you are thinner (and not just the opposite sex). Anyhow, I just wanted to tell you that things will turn out well for you no matter where your head is right now. Please feel free to PM me if you need encouragement on the psych (or any other) front.
