Question for 3 weeks post op...
Welcome all Newbies! I am glad you have ventured out on the boards and started asking questions. I was very nervous the first time I posted. But the gang here is phenomenal! So welcome!
Everyone loses weight at a different rate. 23 lbs is great for 3 weeks post op. There are times when you will drop pounds every day. Then after a while you will stop losing. But you will notice that your clothing is fitting a little better and you realize you are losing inches, not pounds. Everyone hits a stall! Your body thinks you are starving! And it just needs to adjust and get used to your new eating habits.
I'm convinced that all "newbies" should have a buddy. So if you don't, find one! It could be a person who had the same surgeon as you. It can be a new WLS patient. It can be someone who had surgery several years ago. I could not have gone down this road on my own. And I'd like to think I am one tough cookie.
Another thing I heard that I'll mention - TV commercials. These were the worst part of post surgery for me. Someone once called it food porn. And that is exactly what it is.
I am 10 months out. In fact, I was at the drs office today and I have lost 89.7% of my excess weight. People refer to me as Tiny or Skinny. I still see me at 262 lbs. That will improve with time.
In any case, welcome and I look forward to seeing you on the boards more often.
