Just wondering if there would be anyone interested in going up there for a weekend sometime soon, to see our Sweet Sue?

I was thinking either the weekend of November 22nd or the 29th.
We could leave on a Friday evening or early Saturday and have a coffee the next day.  From my understanding the drive is approximately 4 + hours from Two Harbors, Mn.

Please post if interested so that we can start to make arrangements for hotel, etc.

I would love to go up and see Sue!   Not sure if there'll be a lot of time or finances before Christmas though.   I think it'd be a great idea....we could carpool and share a hotel room or suite etc...   Sue is the greatest it'd be fun.   We don't need a passport yet if we're just driving over the border do we?

Michelle,

Good question Michelle... I believe you just need your driver's license at this time.  My BIL was up in Canada just a couple of months ago and just used his license.  Carpooling would be great and to share hotel expense as well.  Maybe if we get enough interest we can keep the cost down for everyone.

Take Care,

Erika

Hi gals~
To get into Canada you need a photo ID, such as a drivers license.
Gee--let me know and I'll see if I can get the Thunder Bay WLS group to come to coffee.  (It's not a terribly cohesive group--far more 'clique-y'  than this board ever could be. IMHO, of course!)

It would be sooo awesome to have company!!

OHH---I forgot to mention this--it's only a 4-hour drive altogether from Duluth to TBay--unless you do a lot of stopping.

And let me know when and I'll see what arrangements I can make for a 'fun' time!

Sweet Sue,

Thank you for the information it is much appreciated.  I have my passport but it has a photo of me from 3 years ago.  I definately would use my driver's license then.  Do you know if it needs to be updated with a new photo?

Take Care,

Erika

I'm not sure you can  just 'update'  a passport, seeing how it's a major legal document. You MIGHT have to replace it. I would suggest that you call the Post Office and ask them to be sure.

For years I gave the border guys  my long-expired (like from1976!) passport and DL. They kept suggesting that I get a new passport--but I didn't until the US gave Canadians the old 'you-better-do-it-or-else' bit.   So I do now have a NEW passport--but it was taken after driving from Thunder Bay to Duluth and I look REALLY old and tired!

Did I say I have my new US passport?? 'Cuz I was born and riased in Wisconsin??

have a great day!

Just an FYI, Sue is right.  You can't update a passport, it has to be replaced.  :-)

And, I believe starting Jan 1, a photo ID will no longer suffice, I think you have to have a passport to cross into Canada.

Erika,  you've read my mind!  I've told Sweet Sue if I drove, I'd have surprised her  by now to spread some sunshine  and hugs  her way.  Realistically, I can't even take the bus to Duluth to tag along because of PS on thighs. Am hoping, hoping, hoping things settle down for a huge turnout end of Feb. in your area!  Happy, safe travels! Me loves road trips--expecially spontaneous ones!  Wow, so glad you're able to do this for Sweet Sue!  Smile Sue, your' 'anti-blues  rescue squad is forthcoming.. ....wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  So excited for all of you!  I'll definitely be there vicariously through all of you! Hugs, Patti
