I find myself eating a lot of candy as of late and have no idea why. I never ate candy pre-surgery and I still don't really care for it now. Anyone going through something similar or have any advice? It's baffling to me!

I do the same thing. I think it's a problem of accessibility. If you can't access the candy, you won't eat it.... what works for me is to get that crap out of the house and not let it NEAR me... it's not always easy (and heck, sometimes I fail) but it definitely helps.

I agree with Elena that if its out of sight... out of mind.  But, sometimes it isn't that easy my DH likes his candy, so I have asked him to keep it out of my reach like in his workshop or the top cupboard shelf.

I find myself eating cookies and licorice(not in the copious amounts I did pre-op), but then again, I live with my parents and just because I had my intestinal track re-routed and shouldn't be eating this stuff again, I can't expect them to adjust their eating habits to accommodate mine.

It is hard, though. Christmas is going to be rough as Mom loves to bake up a storm. BUT... everything in moderation. I think the only baked good last year that made me sick were the 7-layer bars.

Turkey day won't be SO bad as I am planning to make Shelly(Eggface)'s 5-minute microwave cake with pumpkin in it somehow. I WILL have a serving of stuffing though, that is something I refuse to compromise on.

I'm with you guys - the 50% discount on Halloween candy was bad bad bad for me. I'm used to stocking up every year and didn't think twice about it this year. Except that 2 pieces of candy back-to-back makes me sick.

I went through therapy before surgery because I am an emotional eater - it's a stressful time of year for a lot of people. So for me, at least, trying to figure out precisely why I am eating and trying to solve that (instead of extra calories, dumping, and not being "comforted" after one piece) has been crucial.

Let me know how that pumpkin pie works out - we make our pumpkin pie with Splenda every year, so I can probably do a sliver of that, but I'm curious if anyone else has better luck with Eggface sweets than I do. The monkey brownies turned out like bricks for me and the souffles kinda taste funny to me. (Not a bad cook, just no luck with these!!)

Just remember.....SUGAR CRAVES SUGAR.....CARBS CRAVE CARBS!!

It really doesn't matter if it's Slenda or not....it's still sugar and you'll crave more of it.

Chickiepoo, you already have the answer.  Get rid of it.  Replace it with healthy alternatives like cheese sticks, turkey sticks, jerky if you can handle it, apples and SF puddings if you need the sweet taste.

Give your candy to someone who doesn't have a weight issue.  Throw it away.  If you feel tempted to go dumpster diving to retrieve it later, be sure you dump something disgusting over the TOP of the candy once it's in the garbage can.  Kitty litter, grease, gravy, soup, any kind of disgusting sludge will do.

DECIDE you are STRONGER than the candy!  Once you find yourself resisting the urge, you'll find yourself with an even BETTER feeling than the candy in your mouth - PRIDE in your HEART!!!

Use your tool the way it's meant to be used, and you will never regret it!

What great advice! Thank you all for being so supportive!

I decided the best thing for me to do was get it out of my house ASAP! So this morning I trudged into work with this bin full of candy and let my co-workers have at it.

Inside I was kind of laughing cause I looked at the candy and told it that it WON'T get the best of me! HA!

Thanks again all!
