Oh ((((ELENA))))!!  I hope you can feel my hug as I can feel your pain!  I, too, lost a dear friend (she was 21 when she passed) from cancer.  I lost my grandmother from cancer (I got to at the age of 8 watch her die in our home~O the suffering).  I read your post and tears are still streaming down my face.  Anyway, at my friends funeral she wanted Vince Gill's "Go Rest High".  If you can take a listen!  Tonight as you visit her grave, have her favorite chocolate and remember that she suffers no more and watches over you and is SOOOOOOOOOOO proud of you and your Emmy's, and how well you have rocked your band!!!
MANY MANY HUGS!

Elena, I am so sorry for your loss.  It's hard to loose someone so young.

I hope the kids lifted your heart a little today.

Thanks Sandie!

I know what you mean about music... my friend Greg (who also helped care for her) and I made a presentation of photos and videos for the memorial.... and three songs always make me cry because they were part of the memorial:

--Daughters by John Mayer
--About Mr. Brown by OAR
--One Love by Bob MArley

It's interesting how we tie songs to those experiences...

My prayers are with you and Mimis family. You are right, it is not fair and it makes a person angry at that darn "C" word.

You are a strong person and will continue to get stronger as time heals your pain. Remember the good times, and yes do bring her chocolate and talk to her. She hears you and loves you for all you did to help her through her pain.

Elena--I am thinking of you , your friend and her family ...It must have been heart wrenching to see her go through that.  My cousin died waiting for a heart transplant when she was 14...I clearly remember all of those WHY her questions..why anyone. Your friend was beautiful and it sounds like you were a beautiful caring friend to her.  Keep wonderful thoughts of her close to  your heart.

My dear Elena~

Mimi was blessed to have you as friend! And the fact that your friendship lasted so long is indeed a blessing.

((Reading how the cancer tortured Mimi brought tears to my eyes, as my beloved husband died from  thyroid-cancer-morphed-to-esophageal cancer, which effectively closed off his throat. I remember him lying in the hospital bed with a suction pump to get normal saliva out as he could not swallow.  His cancer progression was similar to Mimi's.  Cancer be damned!))

No philosophic words will be offered to you from me. You are doing the right thing--celebrating Mimi with her family, and keeping alive her love of life and family. She's probably smiling at you all and throwing you kisses!

I'm so sorry that you lost such a special person.  It's so hard to see those we love suffer, and it's so hard to go through that with them.  But what a good friend you were to go through that with her, and to remember her today by sharing her story with us.  God bless you, Elena.  You and Mimi's family will be in my prayers today.
