OT: Very tough day for me
Elena,
My heart goes out to you and Mimi's family. Cancer is such a horrible thing. One of my very dear friends passed away from leukemia 1 1/2 years ago and another friend just had both of her thyroids removed last week for thyroid cancer. I can safely say that I HATE CANCER also.
I believe that Mimi is looking down on you every day. I think it's wonderful that you get together and celebrate her birthday and her life. You are such a wonderful friend and I am sure she is greatful to have you even still.
Hugs
Crystal

So sorry to hear of your loss....... Cancer sucks I just lost my uncle a little over a month ago and have not yet had time to grieve for him due to my dad. I am so glad you got to spend the time that you did with her and know that she knew how much you loved her and how much you meant to her. Her memory will never be forgotten........Many hugs to you sweetie Marsh
Sweet Elena, it hurts me to know you're in so much pain for your dear friend.Anything more I'd say is directly resultant of my religious faith, which helps me understand when bad things happen to good people. Two of my gal pals from college are going through cancer. One first-time bladder, the other had double mastectomy/chemo/radiation just over two years ago, was 'free' almost a year, and sudden return to her spine--we're all so grateful to know, as one puts it: the only 'C' word in her life is Christ. I pray you'll understand and heal with time. Hugs, Patti
Never let your memories be greater than your dreams.

Losing a loved one is so hard, especially when they are young and vibrant. We are the ones left to grieve and it seems the more they were loved, the longer it takes for us to get over our anger.
I can't help but think that Mimi is looking down on you and wishing you weren't so sad. She will always be with you. Think of all of the wonderful times you shared. You had a long friendship, even though you practically started it at birth! Celebrate her life, not her death. I believe she is in a peaceful place. You'll get to see her again and think of the great party you will have!!
