One Week Post-Op... Woo Hoo!!!

I have made it to my one week post-op point with zero complications and 10.5 pounds lost in my first week! This is going to be a very good journey for my health, for me, for my family and for my close friends.  Even better, I got to transition today from my clear liquid food plan to my solid liquid food plan. On the former, I was enjoying water, sugar free jello and chicken broth.  On the latter, I get to have skim milk in between my 3 meals.  Breakfast is 2 Tbsp of cream of wheat. Lunch is 2 Tbsp of smooth yogurt.  And dinner is 2 Tbsp of cream soup..

I will be flying back to Seattle tomorrow night (11/18/2008) to resume my consulting work.  I am plotting out my exercise strategy in Seattle along with my first meal plan when I hit my pureed food plan this coming Thursday.  I know this may sound weird, but for my first pureed meal I want to try some grilled chicken with some chicken broth to moisten it and a small amount of natural (Omega3) peanut butter.   It just sounds good.  I am a bit apprehensive about starting the pureed meal plan; I hope I don't run into any complications..

I hope to join the Maple Grove support group on Saturday morning on my next weekend home from Seattle - which will be the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Thanks again to everyone for contributing to this Minnesota OH board.  I think we have a very nice on-line community going!

Hi Alan, I LOVE Seattle! Hopefully you'll get to see some sunshine while there! Anywhoo,  just a suggestion to ponder for your full liquids variety.  I'd added a titch of Poultry Seasoning to strained cream of chicken, or celery  soups.  Tastes like Thanksgiving!  Hopefully you'll get a chance to try it, and even have some on Thanksgiving.  All the best to you as you proceed forward along this amazing journey--the WOWs will pleasantly surprise you, even at over two years out!  Stick with the program and it'll work well for you!  Hugs, Patti

What a great first week!  Planning is the key - as food on the go is hard to find in the pureed stages. Great job on thos 10 1/2 pounds gone. Best wishes on your journey.  Yay Alan!

YAY YOU, Alan!!!!  Congrats on all your success so far and the positive attitude!  SO MUCH of this journey falls on OUR attitude towards it!  Deciding to be successful is half the battle - 'cuz the tool isn't worth much if we don't work it!

Good luck on your trip - be sure to take it easy, you are still healing, so don't pretend you're not.  And when you start eating food that actually calls for a bit of chewing?  Just remember to chew until it feels like applesauce.  Getting stuck HURTS, but you'll know what's going on the moment it happens.  Chew like the dickens!!!

Looking forward to meeting you soon!!!
