I swear I can't freakin win
So my stuff finally got submitted to insurance on Nov 13th, about a month after my requirements were finished. I called insurance today to see if it had been approved. And I was told that I would not have an answer before Nov. 28. My surgery is on Dec. 1 (U of MN schedules the surgery and then gets approval.)
I do not like this. I just want to reschedule my surgery. How am I supposed to get ready for surgery when I don't even know it's going to happen? My pre-op is tomorrow but it just seems stupid to go.
I hate that I can't just relax about this.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Please don't postpone your surgery, I am sure you will be approed! It stinks that the U does it the way they don't necessarily understand what it takes to truly prepare for the rest of your life.
My thoughts and prayers are with you for a quicker approval so you can rest your mind and get ready for your new life on the loser's bench.

Typical bureaucratic horse hockey! My suggestion would be for you to anticipate that your surgery will happen as scheduled unless you get definitive word to the contrary. If you do end up having to re-schedule your surgery, you can harness your pent up anxiety and frustration in a first class arse-chewing of the U of M surgery schedulers. Yes, it sucks to not know for sure about your surgery date, but think of how thrilled you will be if it happens on time and how satisfied you could be if it does not and you get to deliver the aforementioned arse-chewing.
Good luck,

Is there any reason why you think your insurance will NOT approve your surgery? If not, then try your hardest not to worry and instead start prepping for surgery. Just relax. I know that's easier said than done, but there are many out there fighting appeals for much more complex surgeries, etc.
Hang in there & keep your appointments as scheduled.

I don't blame you for stressing about this. The U seems to have a bass ackward policy. Think positive, though, and continue on as though you have been approved. You would probably kick yourself if you didn't and the approval came in as planned.
Hope to see you at coffee on Saturday - I have that crochet book for you!!

This is disgusting. One would think that they would have more empathy for the life changing event in the works. But......I truly believe that all will go according to plan. Do what you have to do and all will be good. Take a deep breath, hold it and let it out thru your mouth. You have alot of good thought behind you. If I missed something, sorry, but what about you calling the ins. company and explaining. After all, it's YOUR policy!!
sure have you in my prayers!!!
Surgery 1/2/'08 @ 227 lbs.......today, 143 and working towards 138.
