I hate my PCP !
Thanks for the support, and some leads on a good PCP on the south side.
I really didn't need her attitude today. Last week I saw my OB and found out she is retiring at the ripe ole age of 38 to be a SAHM. I'm feeling doctorless and I don't like it.

Geez what a jerk. I am sorry that you have to go through that . I agree with Kelly F. you should write a complaint to the medical review board. Drs are not supposed to push their opinions on you like that. They are supposed to be neutral. You most definetly need to find some one new. Take an iron supplement and don't worry about the numbers they are much better than mine were.
Good luck

Hi there -
That's really a bummer what you went through. Before I started this process the only PCP I had was my gyno, which wasn't going to work. For my pre-op physical the surgeon's office called over to family practice and set me up with my new PCP. It turns out she used to work in the bariatric program, so she was very understanding and encouraging.
Her name is Jody Milburn and she is at Park Nicollet in SLP. I know it's kinda a drive from the south (I am in Shakopee) but it may be worth it to check it out.
I also had low thyroid, but she was not too concerned about it, just something to watch down the road.
Hope you have better luck whoever you decide to go with and good luck on your surgery.

My PCP *****commended WLS to me three years ago moved to another clinic. I had to see another before I could have surgery and I was worried about the level of support. I decided to take the bull by the horns and called the clinic and talked to her nurse. I asked the nurse to ask her if she was supportive of WLS. I told her nurse that if she wasn't supportive, that it was a waste of my time and hers and I was having surgery with or without her. To my surprise, the PCP wrote me an email stating that She would support me 100%.
You need to dump your PCP now before your surgery. I can't imagine what your visits will be like if you need to see her after surgery. You need someone on your side, not someone that is going to ridicule you for wanting to change your life!

Your PCP sounds like a doofus. I don't remember hearing in the news that she was made the new god.
May I suggest that you count your blessings that you're able to hunt around for a different doctor? Up here, there is such a shortage of family doctors that like 20% of Thunder Bay does not have a family practitioner. And that rate is higher in bigger cities, I hear.
Best wishes for a doctor who will support you!!

My PCP, when I asked for the referral to check into having WLS. He did it right away then said... "I am not for it, I am not against it". WTH, so I just kinda put that comment in the back of my memory bank for later. I seen him about 2 months before surgery when I face planted on the 4th of July and he said see you in a yr. I then reminded him nooo you will see me before surgery, he said "oh yeah". I will tell you I was not feeling the warm fuzziness of any of this. 3 weeks prior to surgery I met with him and told him point blank.. "I" NEED you to be on the same page as me as you will be doing my after care. I must of hit a nail on the head or something, He has been more supportive and actually shows an interest.
I hope you find someone who will support you or knock some sense into the one you have.

Hey Kristy! Sorry to hear you are experiencing this - for a moment I thought perhaps you & I were seeing the same doctor. I've given up on my PCP, too.
Keep your chin up & forget her. Besides, after surgery, you'll be required to keep your labs in check and you'll be on supplements so your levels will likely level out, but if YOU have a concern about it, just give your surgeon's office a call this week. If they're not concerned, let it go. They do this all the time.

So sorry to hear that you had to deal with all that negativity from your PCP. I can understand your frustration. I have a PCP that I love. He is a guy though! His name is Dr. David Johnson at the Fairview Clinic in Eden Prairie. He has been awesome through this whole WLS process. He is the one *****ferred me to Fairview Southdale WL Clinic and Dr. Benn. I can not say enough good things about him. I wish you all the best as you deal with this. I suggest a new PCP who is willing to work with you on the process.
