I'm freaking out - cancel surgery ?

Ok, I'm 99% sure I'm NOT going to cancel or delay surgery, but this discomfort, I would almost call pain at this point.  It's persistant, never goes away lump in my throat / feeling in my chest that I've had for 2 weeks now is to the point where it's become INTOLERABLE.  Seriously.  I'm sure going back and eating carbs would help, I just know it.   So, I do that, feel better / lose this lump and yucky feeling, but then gain some of the 10 LBS I lost per my surgeons requirement.  Then what?  I mean I'm not exaggerating, it's a horrid feeling and the fact that I cant seem to make it better is really taking it's tole on me.  It's sort of a feeling like if I could just burp, it would feel better. But sometimes I do, and it doesn't help.

I was really hoping someone has struggled with this feeling that could suggest something that works.

And you guys are SO great.  I'm not going to wuss out, I don't think.

Hello there! I am 4 weeks out, and have not had a protein shake yet. If you feel like that is what it is... cut them out for a while. There are many other ways to get your protein in if you truly can't handle them. My doctor told me not to do protein shakes yet. Don't know why...

But, DON'T cancel. This coming from me who had an awful surgery experience! But... 4 weeks later, yesterday, I was able to pull out (and wear!) my smaller jeans from a couple years ago! IN JUST 4 WEEKS! Trust me, it will be worth it! :~)

Are they sure it's reflux? What sort of tests have you had - is there a hiatal hernia?

Hmmm - sorry, I just wouldn't be okay with "figured it was". I'd have to have more concrete information than that, but that's just me.

If you have reflux, it is probably because of your weight. Therefore, the RNY would eventually eliminate that for you, if it's truly reflux and it's weight related. Of course, this is not 100% & YMMV (your mileage may vary).

You're in your two week freak period before surgery so just keep that in mind.

So many great comments here.  I am not going to try and add more except you need a big {{{{HUG}}}}.  Please consider Burnsville coffee this weekend!  I am rooting for you all the way!

Kristy,

Although, I never had reflux issues I had others that went away once
I had my surgery.  Sending prayers your way to calm your nerves and
agree with everyone else on the PCP... You deserve/need a Doctor who is going to support you regardless of their view on WLS.

Take Care,

Erika
