Hi All -

BariatricTV is a podcast by WLS patients for WLS patients.  We launched on Halloween and our latest episode is now up and can be viewed at www.bariatrictv.com.

You can also get our episodes via iTunes - go to Store/Podcasts/Video Podcasts/Health and look for BariatricTV..

We welcome all feedback, ideas, thoughts, etc.

Our most recent episode has a segment in it from the recent OH convention in LA...  Check it out!

I like the website so far, but the fact that it says "successful" means that a person has lost 100% of their excess weight and kept it off. Does that mean that you consider any and all of us that may be 1% to 99% of our excess weight lost to be failures????

I may not have lost all I wanted, at 3 1/2 years out still struggling with emotional eating, bi-polar disorder meds causing food issues. I do not consider myself a failure. I went from 296 to 170-175. Maybe, you might reconsider your definition of "successful"

Hi Karen -

My doctor actually considers anyone who has lost 70% of their excess weight - has kept it off for 5 years and has changed their lifestyle in ways condusive to keeping the weight off to be a success..

I think that your weight loss is FANTASTIC and I would never, ever tell anyone they are a failure.  I know how hard this is - with no other challenges (bi-polar), etc.

Toni and I were just lucky enough to somehow get down to the goal weight(s) that we, and our doctor, had set for us.  But everyday is a stuggle - this is by no means the 'easy way out'.. just a way to level the playing field a bit between "us" and all those folks that have never had to worry about gaining/losing weight.

But you are correct - I think I am going to change that little 'blurb' about 100% = successful.. Cuz I am definitely NOT trying to infer that anyone is a failure.

Happy Friday!

Thank you.  It means a great deal to have a concern that hit me hard when I read it addressed, validated and gave you enough food for thought to modify your wording.  I will sit back and watch the episodes with a much more relaxed viewpoint.

Have a wonderful day, you made me feel that my feelings were important in the grand scheme of WLS.

I have already changed it.. Hopefully it comes across now as how I meant.. :-)  Keep the ideas, thoughts, concerns coming.. As Toni and I say in the podcasts - this is not OUR show - it's yours.. so tell us what you want to see and what you think.. :-)

Have a great weekend
