Anyone Else????

You know, being around all that food doesn't bother me one bit.  I'll eat my little bit and be happy.  and you know what else, it doesn't bother me to be around people who are eating normal portions of food, but I am kind of dreading witnessing the feasting.  Not because I'll be tempted or desire the experience, but because it makes me ill to see all that food just getting shoveled in, people barely pausing to breath or taste the meal, and it makes me ill to think that I used to eat like that.

It's never too late—in fiction or in life—to revise.   Nancy Thayer

Sandie:

This will be my first holiday meal post-WLS and I decided to bring a few things with me so I can enjoy the company and not make only bad food choices.  I am planning to bring a homemade protein fiber bar and  the ingredients to make a pumpkin protein shake in case temptation creeps in.

I am actually worried about tonight because my wife makes the pies for Thanksgiving dinner every year .....she is making 9 of themt!  My youngest daughter is also making lefse today (I taught her how and now she is much better at it than I am).

Homemade bread used to me one of my biggest trigger foods, but I have found post WLS that it no longer has that hold on me.  For the first time in 10 years my brother will be in town for Thanksgiving and I am going to make him some sourdough bread tomorrow morning before we head out.  I am actually looking forward to that, not fearing it like I thought I would prior to surgery.  Weird, huh?.......um, OK, I already KNOW I am weird and that condition pre-dated my surgery

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm looking forward to the small portion!  Don't we all enjoy the food more when we know we will only be able to eat a little bit of it?

I agree... watching everyone else pig down ridiculous quantities is both sickening, and oddly amusing.  And sad.  I LOVE not feeling stuffed!

QUACK!!!!
(that was for YOU, Sandie - I'm swimmin' right along side ya!)

Hi Sandie,

I remember being the one stuffing myself too, but now the food doesn't bother me at all. I still struggle with just my food in everyday.  It still amazes how much I have changed in regard to
how I see food now.

I don't like watching everyone else eating so much, but I just eat my portions and then I can
sit there and visit and have a great time with the family.

Have a great Thanksgiving with your families.
Take care,

Amy
