Surgery is delayed due to, GET THIS, a gastric bypass patient who had surgery last week and has a leak.  I overhear this crap while sitting in the pre op area.  Great, that's all I need. Luckily it wasn't my surgeons patient, but he is going in to fix her.  F&#$ !!!!!!  Surgery was supposed to be at 9, have been in the pre op area since 8. The drug they give me to calm my nerves doesn't help! I'm all hot and itchy, it's going on 11am. GRRRRRRR

I'm thinking maybe this is a sign  and I should up and walk out before it's too late!

go ask the nurses for more calming drugs, then sit back and breath!  You will be just fine.  Don't run from the hospital, you would regret that.  All will be well!

Hi Kristy

Try to breathe!!  It is a long haul to get to surgery and the first few month can be bumpy but you can do this!  If you really are having second thoughts go through all the reasons you decided to have surgery in the first place.  If they don't out weigh your doubts, then by all means postpone!  However I think alot of us had doubts, it is a process.  I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way!!

Best Wishes with whatever you decided!

Pre-op anxiety is a ***** no doubt.  But for everything you have gone through to GET to where you are now?  You better consider how you might feel tomorrow if you were to leave the hospital today without having the surgery.

Take a deep breath, sweetie.  YOU DESERVE THIS SURGERY!!!  You've worked hard to get to this day.  Don't walk away from it without giving it some SERIOUS THOUGHT first!!

Kristy,

I agree ask the nurses for something different or stronger to help with the nerves they are there to help you so ask for what you need to help you.  I agree with Ali go through your list of why you are having the surgery to remind yourself what you are looking forward to as you melt away.  Everything will be fine and I can only imagine how frustrated you must be right now, but you will be in the OR shortly and then come out and sit righ next to me on the Loser's Bench.  You can do this I know you can!

Lots of Love & hugs!

No need to panic.  I had the same thing happen to me, was scheduled at 1pm but didn't get in until 6pm.  Everything happens for a reason.  Think of it as the surgeons practise run on the other patient.

You're almost there, hang tight!

Hey Sweetie~
This whole situation you're tolerating is a ***** but you will get through it!
I agree--ask the nurse for more/different meds to calm you down.  BTW--in my limited medical knowledge, being hot and itchy TO ME sounds like a reaction.  (I itch like crazy from morphin
e. )

Here's hoping and prayng that all goes according to plan from here on in!!

Hopefully you will be waking soon from anestesia and the hardest part will be all over. My sugery was delayed as well, and I was worried they would postpone it because it was getting late in the day and I was afraid they were all going to leave for the day!!

You will be fine. Get some good drugs and you won't care that you are waiting.

See you on the loser's bench in a while.

Kristy,
How awesome that they have a computer for you to use.  You are a smart girl to come to the boards for support!   Take deep breaths.  I always think the in through the nose and out through the nose breaths are the most relaxing.  Do what feels good.   Relax and invision the new Kristy.  You will soon be on the bench heading towards the healthier you.  Imagine yourself a few months from now with your daughter, playing outside.........that will be so nice.   You will be amazed!

Oh crap!  I hope that, by now, you are on the operating table starting your new life!  I am so proud of you making this very hard decision to be able to live a full and productive life.  I agree with Lisa Joy, imagine being able to play outside with Lauren this summer in a new body and not feel self conscious or hot.  Big hugs!
