Frustrated
OK, so I've been on the pre-op liquid diet and have lost about 18 pounds. I started going to the YMCA doing water aerobics, bicycling, the treadmill and the weight machines. Ever since I started working out, I've hardly lost anymore weight. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it because I'm building muscle? I can't figure it out.

This happened to me! I couldn't really figure out why... my guess is building muscle... or the body is just adjusting to the new level of exercise. I am not sure though... I know how you feel though!

Hello.
When you start excersising you shrink in inches but muscle weighing more than fat it kind of evens things out abit. Trust that you are doing the right thing and it IS working.
Taking measurments so that when you dont see the numbers changing helps you to know that things are changing!
Good luck

Great job on the 18 pounds!!!!
My guess is that the body figured out you were dieting so it is saying "no way
I'm hanging on to what's in here!!!!" It will adjust and then you'll drop weight again.
But don't be surprised that you will gain up to 20 pounds back with the surgery with all the fluids and stuff they put in you after the surgery. It will all come right back off.
The normal cycle of the surgery is you either lose weight or inches. What is happening pre-op will happen post-op too. Just be reassured that if you are following the plan, you are losing weight or inches. Then hang in there -- there are many more of these weeks to come. I had one 10 day period where I lost 2 pounds but went from a 12 to an 8.
