Fluid intake question
I am having the lap band surgery on Wednesday and I'm trying to make sure I have plenty of liquids and stuff to drink after my surgery. My dietitian has said that we need to drink 48 to 64 ounces a day and to make sure we get 60 grams of protein a day. I was also told to drink 4 ounce every hour. My question is this, if I drink 4 ounces of carnation instant breakfast, can I still drink water right away or do I have to wait 30 minutes since the drink will be one of my meals while on the post-op liquid diet? Does this make sense? I'm trying to plan ahead and make a schedule to make sure I get the right amount of fluids & protein every day.

"On the lighter side" Everyone and anyone welcome!
If you are already connected with a dietician, then I would suggest asking her because every program is differnt.
IMO (and what I did) was not necessarily wait a full 30 minutes after finishing the CIB "meal" but I didn't drink water immediately afterwards either. The CIB should count as both a meal and part of your daily fluid intake. Anything mixed with milk is a little thicker and heavier than just plain water, so I think that there is something to be gained by letting it keep you full for a while before drinking water.
I didn't have the same procedure, so maybe other lapbanders have a different take on this question.
