Hi.  Has anyone had a hysterectomy AFTER having WLS?  I'm scheduled to have one, and want to know if there are any special concerns after WLS.  Thanks!

I had my hysterectomy 10 months out with no complications.  My ob/gyn was aware of my rny since he had been present then to perform my sterilization procedure at the same time.  While doing the hysterectomy, the ob/gyn was also going to doing a little exploritory work while in there to see why I was having some explained left side pain.  He was absolutely committed to calling in my rny dr if necessary to fix anything he may have found.  I actually ran into my rny dr the morning of my hysterectomy and he too said that he was only a page away to help if necessary.  Turned out there was no need - all went off without a hitch!

My only words of wisdom that I would pass along would be this...1) be sure to get enough fluids and protein during the recovery/healing process; 2) if your ob/gyn states that you should be able to go back to work 2 wks post-op, plan for more!

I had mine after 6 months post op.  It was great!  No problems and my surgeon said no special concerns regarding the rny exept the fluids.  Just make sure you keep hydrated.

Thanks!  If she doesn't reply to this, I'll send her a message.  Love the black kitty picture!
