Hi everyone-

Just thought I would post an update in case anyone else would go through this.......

When I exercise on my treadmill, from the knee down I swell and my feet. I get some pain and just an uncomfortable feeling........

Well I went to my Family Doctor today, He said it's a vein problem, that the blood don't pump through my veins properly and NO medicine will help....Only surgery to strip the veins.....And he said this is not a surgery he wants me to have......He said usually people have varicous veins, veins that are big and stick out, Well I don't......But he still figures that this is my problem. He said at my age (40) he doesn't want me to have this surgery, he wants me to live with it as long as I can or until it gets worse......He said to wear the tight white diabetic socks when I go on the treadmill and to elevate my legs after the treadmill.........

So there you have it..........Thanks to everyone for your responces to my last post......

I hope no one else goes through this........It makes it hard to get on that treadmill knowing how I'm going to feel afterwards.......I'll just keep plugging along.......

Hey Hon!  I understand your pain!  I just had vein surgery in Sept.  SO if it comes down to surgery don't sweat it, it was a simple same day procedure and my swelling(except in the knees~another issue) is waaaaaaaaaaay better to almost gone!  I am still wearing those stockings (oh, what fun~ but they do hold it all in).....I hope that put you at ease a bit!  And by the way I'm only 33 and my sis had vein surgery at 30.
Hope it gets better for you with no surgery!

Kelly:

Um.....I would get a second opinion at least on the treatment plan (or the lack thereof in your family doc's case).  In any event, I am sorry to hear that you don't really have a solution to that problem.  It really stinks when you are willing to exercise and your body protests in some way.  Also, as an aside, you do really look noticeably younger than your years, you lucky girl.

Take care,

RP

Ugh...how disappointing to not have an immediate solution for you!  I agree with the pp.  Many docs have different beliefs and opinions.  I would get a second opinion just to be sure.  Good luck.

Hi Kelly....I too would get a second opinion. It can't hurt anything to see what someone else thinks about this.

Good luck with this...prayers are on the way!

Kelly,
I agree, you should get a second opinion. Sounds like if there is a procedure out there that will help you, should at least be able to try it. Instead of just 'living' with the pain!! Ouchee, sounds so painful!!
Prayers are on the way that you can get some relief soon!!

I got your message.  I'm sorry to hear that there isn't much they can do.  You may want a second opinion.  Especially if you are having pain and discomfort.  Doctors aren't perfect.

So, all I can say is that I'm sorry you are dealing with this.  I know it sucks.  Don't let it get you down.  Focus on the good!

Love ya!

Sorry you're going through this, but I would get a 2nd opinion.
I had veins (the stick out kind) removed in both legs, out-patient.  Horrible bruising after but no other problems.
Hope you come to find some peace with this.

I'm with everyone else on the 2nd opinion idea.  Did he say why you shouldn't have surgery to fix it at your age? I don't get what age has to do with it.  That stinks you're trying to be good and excercise, only to have a negative side effect.

hey kell,

my hubby has had his veins stripped twice that's why I was wondering if you had varicous veins, if you cant live with it, have it done, it sounds worse then it is.

sorry hun
