Incision Itchiness

I'm a whopping 5 days out now and boy do my incisions itch.

Anything I can do to help this?

I think wearing a baggy shirt is working against me because it can touch my belly in all sorts of ways. I'm considering putting on one of my silky feeling but stretchy tank tops.

I know this is no different than other wound healing and it will itch but arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Itching is normal - yes, but I was allergic to the steri-strip adhesive. I was getting blisters! SO check for redness, swelling, or other signs of "itchiness that goes beyond normal. The tank top idea worked for me (once I took off the strips. ALso benedrl will help with the itching.

Anna...welcome to the ride! Don't be afraid to call your bariatric nurse and ask what they recommend. Each Dr. is different and I would call them.

I certainly hope your other issue has resolved so that you are not getting double whammied!

I was allergic to the adhesive glue of the steri strips too.  Once I removed them and got rid of the glue, I was a lot better.  Look for ANY redness -- and stay away from an infection!!!!

Call your doctor if you see redness to make sure you are far enough out to removed the  steri strips -- I was 8 days out so they were healed enough....

I don't know why it took me so long to take a good look at them...I think it's that I'm adverse to holes in my body. LOL

But I looked and I'm definitely having a reaction to the steri-strips. Red bumps and all. It's the bumps that itch, not the incisions.

I just got a call back from the resident on calla nd I can take them off. This is going to make the weekend so much easier!
