Holiday season kicking my butt
This holiday season is kicking my butt, I have to admit. The nasty food is everywhere - work, friends' homes, family home, coffee shops, clinics, restaurants. It's all in your face!!
..and I just can't frickin' say NO. I beat myself up about it because I am a perfectionist... but I am really trying my best to realize I am not perfect and celebrate the times I DO say NO to bad food.. which is plenty.
I am so thankful for my band though... this time last year it would have been worse... MORE food and MORE of the bad stuff. This year's "naughty" is not nearly as bad as previous years.
On a good note, I haven't gained any weight. I have just majorly plateaued. Thanks to my band, I don't feel like giving up. I just feel like I need to get my mind back on track and remember why I started this journey in the first place. If all else fails, the holidays will be over soon... the cookies will be out of my face and hopefully I will get a slight band fill soon (the .6cc unfill was too much so I can eat a lot more now and it's hard to control myself).
Thank you all for listening.

I agree this is a tough time of year to be trying to lose weight. Since Thanksgiving people have been dropping off cookies, pies and bars at my house but fortunately my wife has been taking them all to work and her co-workers have been eating them. It's all stuff I like but I figure if it's not here I won't be tempted. The only time I cheated a little was on my 21st anniversary I had a small piece of cake but that has been it. I hope I can make it thru December without screwing up. You shouldn't beat yourself up over it you have been doing fantastic and a little plateau once in a while is way better than a huge weight gain any day.

You took (most) of these words out of my mouth! (I say most cause I don't have a band.) HA! Anyway, Man oh mister. It is tough, tough, tough!
Thanks goodness for WLS! I love how you said you just need to get your mind back on track. I am doing that too. I came home from my evenings events and cooked so I have filling, satisfying food for tomorrow.
Rock on with our tools, sistah' with another mother.....or is it father! HA!

Down: 85
Still want to lose: 31

: ) I am glad someone else understands! : ) I think I am going to really get back to cooking ahead of time so I don't come home hungry every day.
TOTALLY!!!
tis the season -
i find it helps me to keep stuff on hand that would be good for an alternative choice. for example - if i have a yen for sweet - i've got sugar free candy or sugar free hot chocolate. if i want crunchy - there's nuts or (for me) dill pickles. i have chicken broth, coffee, and tea at work. and even brought cans of tuna to work because my lunches are taken at my desk.
glad you're looking at the positives, too. you are making better choices, it will be over soon, and in the meantime - try to enjoy the season. i'd hate to see you wi**** away, just because of food.
god luck

AGING IS INEVITABLE
GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL!

Elena,
I know what your talking about.......Actually this week I decided to kick myself in the butt........I've been stalled forever, my fault......So I'm back on the treadmill 1-2 times a day, and eating my 3 meals a day, protein first.......
I don't want to be done loosing........10 more pounds........I hung up a picture of me in the kitchen, so everytime I go in there it reminds me of where I've been and where I want to be......
Good luck to you........At least eating 1 cookie is better than what we used to eat.....The whole package.......
Hang in there......Love ya, Kelly
