Not to open a can of worms, but... (PNC)

Barb is still out, healing.  Hopefully she'll be back in front of our group, but it was hard not to wonder.  PNC proposed most of the changes, although they did seem to be taking notes from people regarding possible topics/issues.  Some could end up being good, but some are questionable IMHO.  - meaning the changes, not the topics.

Thanks for responding.  I am worried about Barb.  Did they have someone from the PNC staff run the group last night?

I will put my .02 out there.

I am not into meditation and all of that so I thought that was a bit much for me.  And I think that telling the group change is coming isn't exactly the "proper" way.  As Terri didn't really give us any feedback into change or no change.

I think a gradual change will keep people coming and wanting the change.

I have never thought the group to be clique.  There are a few people that I gravitate to, and I would know and be more involved if I put myself out there more.  I attend pretty regularily, every other week and for now that is all the comitment I have to give.

Thanks for you specific few that have really helped on my journey!

I have gained some great friends on this journey!

I too thought about this quite a bit today.  My first concern was with Barb, cause ya know ,I luv me some Barb!  In that respect is seemed without words that she and her "style" were silently being pushed aside, which I hope is not the case.

I did enjoy the chaplin very much and welcome training tools as far as meditation, and guided imagery.  As a suggestion maybe we could save the last half hour of the meeting for more social interaction and still have scheduled topics, that would still let people to get to know each other and ask weight related questions with those that have already started their journey wanted to share

I think that new people that come to the group for their own initial research would find just topics not what they were after?

Let's remember this is our group and they were asking for our suggestions, although they did have an agenda of what they would like to see, i just don't want this to be about them vs. us and hope this continues to be the wonderful support sytem that I've enjoyed.

My 2 cents:

-- I am cool with the meditation, spiritual bit.. though if religion is pushed in, I may have to step aside... I think that makes people uncomfortable sometimes.

-- I will still be saying my weight loss # (but others can choose NOT to) because I am a band patient... and how much I have lost is a HUGE deal to me!! Besides that... you KNOW that newbies and pre-ops WANT to hear the #s... and if we don't say them, they WILL ASK. It's important for pre-ops to see if these dang surgeries even work.. AND important for them to know that all the skinny minnies in the room USED to be fat, so they can relate.

-- I think a good way to keep on topic AND to allow newbies to speak up is to RAISE OUR HANDS... or have a talking stick or something. I know it sounds cheesy, but I do agree that sometimes it is impossible to say anything with 40 people in a room. I think this would definitely solve a lot of problems. That's just me.
