hi kathy.
thanks for your response.  i did call my dr and asked for a return to my previous dosage.  as i told someone in an earlier post, i really need to consider these meds to be as necessary as the thryoid pills and vitamins and supps i take.
i appreciate the input, kathy.  hearing from someone who's been there really does help.
so here's to 'normal' - whatever that may be.
thanks again

Hi Dorthy,
Just want you to know that I can relate re the Cymbalta for pain and depression.  Can also relate with all the other feelings you are dealing with now.  Been there....done that....still in therapy and on Cymbalta.  If you would like, PM me and I'll detail some of it out for you.  I do believe you have my address; however, it is
[email protected].  I will say that I highly recommend you seek some therapy or (talk therapy as my therapist calls it).  I can go a year or two with out the sessions with her; but than I need refresher courses to get MY self-esteem going in the right direction.

Hope to hear from you, My Friend.

hi eileen:
so very good to hear from you.  i've saved your address - i really miss talking to you.  i think i remember reading just a little about your recent issues and am so sorry i wasn't on the board to be there for you.  not sure how much i could've done, but please know that you're in my prayers.
just reading the responses so far, i'm checking with my dr about resuming the dosage on my meds.  gotta get it thru my head, tho, that it's not a sin or a crime to be taking them. i'm working on it.  and i think that after a couple sleepless nights, a reality check with the spouse is probably on my todo list as well.
will try harder to keep in touch, hun.  friends such as you are way too important to let go of.
take care
hugs

Hi sweetie-I haven't taken cymbalta, but have taken prozac now for a few years-before that, paxil, wellbutrin, Klonopin....If the cymbalta is making you have brain fuzz, it may not be the right drug-but just cutting your dose is obviously making things difficult.  You have some very valid issues that are causing you stress, and the drugs don't FIX that, they just give you the emotional stability to deal with things better-but yes, get thee to some counseling.  I can offer hugs and support-but a professional to tie it together and help you through this would be a really good choice.
love and hugs-
lynn

hi lynn:
i'm hoping to hear back from my dr today about the dosage.  if she tells me an office visit is needed, i'll talk to her about changing meds.  but i've already been thru a grocery list of meds for pain and depression.  so many that i don't remember them all.  ironic, huh?  it's also just struck me that this became an issue when i decided i would be ok with less meds.  obviously not a good choice.
just hearing the responses here has actually helped clarify my thinking, albeit slightly.  a straight talk with the stress providers in my life seems to be in order.  thank you, by the way, for saying my issues are valid.  guess i needed to hear that.
your hugs and support mean more to me than you'll probably ever know, hun.  i appreciate your posting and intend to take what i hope will be more positive actions.  thanks so much.
hugs n luv

Yep, therapy....and maybe after a while there you can start to cut back....sounds too soon right now to be messing with meds.

It will get better.

hi tina.  thanks for the response.  i called my doc about resuming dosage.
isn't it amazing how quickly one can forget that 'it will get better'.  i'm gonna hang onto that thought today.
thanks again

I just had a conversation with my daughter about her not wanting to take meds. My life is so much better with my meds. I told it it's nothing to be ashamed of. If it's a chemical imbalance, you may need the higher dose. I'd go back to your doctor and discuss how your feeling. Cymbalta quit working for me after surgery. I take Wellbutrin now. Good luck hun, and hang in there.

hi kathy:
thanks for your response.  i needed to hear it because part of me is ashamed that i have to be on pills for pain, pills for depression, pills for anxiety.  they're all prescribed for valid reasons, it's just my own personal attitude which needs adjustment.  work in progress, i guess.
hope your conversation with your daughter went well.  i know that some day my girls may also need meds - some things just run in the family - and i know i wouldn't want them to dismiss help wherever they may find it.  so perhaps that's how i need to look at it.  and talk to myself as the mother i wish i had.
oh my - that last thought brings on a whole new set of issues.
thanks again for your input, kathy.  i appreciate it
