How do I stall at 2 weeks?

My surger was Dec. 1 and I've gained weight even!

Perhaps it has to do with me getting dehydrated and ending up in the hospital over the weekend but darn it's frustrating. All this work and suffering and my weight has stalled completely.

I haven't had the energy to exercise yet but I am doing house work and getting out shopping and such.

I haven't been eating much so I could get enough water in. Trying to do protein shakes, getting in about 2 a day with 1 meal.

Any ideas? I'm so frustrated and kind of angry even.

Thanks,
Anna

Since you asked, here's my idea.

THROW YOUR SCALE AWAY.  STAY OFF IT, IT'S EVIL.  Or at least box that sucker up and store it somewhere horribly inaccessible.  At this point in the game, you do not need or WANT to become obsessed with weighing yourself.  Focus on getting acquainted with your new relationship with food.  Do the things your program directs you to do, and the weight WILL come off!  Yes, the IV probably added fluid weight to you, I totally understand that frustration.  But if you can just stay away from the number game and focus on following your eating plan, it'll happen.  We all wanted to wake up after surgery 50 pounds (OR MORE) down.  You didn't get obese overnight, you won't find yourself a normal weight overnight, either.

Seriously, it's the BEST favor you could do for yourself at this time.  I limited myself to weighing ONLY when I was at the doctor's office for the first year, and was ALWAYS pleased with the drops!  But now that I'm over a year and a half out and HAVE to watch my weight more closely, it drives me NUTS to see the fluctuation!  Don't torture yourself that way yet.  Enjoy the ride, get good at it, and worry about the scale further down the road.

Hi Anna!!

I haven't got a scale either for that same reason!! I don't want to be frustrated if I have an immediate stall. I know my body is going through alot and feel if I weigh myself 1 time a month
at the doc I will see a difference!! I ended up at the doc a week after my 1 month FU and I had only lost 2 lbs now I told them not to tell me except at my monthly FUs. Hang in there and can't wait to meet you!!

Give some time and before you know it you be feeling on top of the world. It may seem like a stall but some days you get on the scale and nothing then before you knows you drop 5 more. Hang in there.

I was disappointed today at my one week, I gained 1LB.  I knew I probably gained alot in the hospital, and had not weighed at home because I didn't want to see a gain , or no loss. I thought today I'd break even, but nope.

I think all we can do is know that we're following the plan and the weight HAS TO come off, in it's own time.  Hard to accept, but I think the sooner we can be at peace with that, the better.

At my one week post-op, I was up NINETEEN $@(%&!'N POUNDS!  Yes, that's a 1-9, as in one less that TWENTY.

Granted, I had a bit of extra fixing done and spent three nights in the hospital, so I had even MORE time on the ol' IV pole.  AND I was good about getting my fluids in right from the get-go.

I UNDERSTAND that frustration, believe me!

But at my one month?  I had lost those 19 pounds, plus 14 more!  So put the scale away.   It is not your friend right now.

I agree with Darla - don't get attached to that scale!  You may have water weight right now, or at least have bounced back to "normal" as being hydrated.  Weigh yourself once a month.  I know it is hard, but you will have many more "YAY" moments.  Have you started measuring yourself?  I can send you a spreadsheet.  It is motivating to see that you are losing inches, even when you aren't losing pounds.

At 2 weeks out, don't worry about weight loss.  You have to recover from surgery and your body has to make adjustments.  Energy will come, sometimes takes a while (I think it was about 4-5 months for me).  Patience!!
