Update: Out of Hospital Again
I was admitted to Hudson Hospital on Nov 23rd for a bowel obstruction. Once they got the stool moving, they discharged me on November 26th. Well, I was not fixed all the way. For the next two weeks I did not have a bowel movement despite taking miralax twice a day, oil twice a day, senna twice a day and colace twice a day. I was waiting for my appt with Minnesota Gastroenterology when my stomach became distended and painful! So I went to Woodwinds ER since they have gi at that hospital. I was admitted on December 10 where that night they did the gallon of golytely used to prep for colonoscopy. That did nothing so december 11th I had a gastrographin study which also did nothing. On the 12th they did another gallon of golytely. This produced minimal results so they then moved on to enemas twice daily along with double doses of miralax three times daily, senna two tablets four times daily, colace two pills two times daily and misoprostol three times daily. That helped a little bit then on sunday afternoon they did something called a betty crocker enema which is where you mix 1 cup sugar, 1 cup baking soda and 700ml. It did not do too much for me but she swears she has some patients where nothing else works and this does. Well they did another ct on monday and my abdomen was looking okay since most of teh stool had liquified and moved on. So Wednesday Evening I came home.
I have to be on my new bowel regimen permanently now cause it just does not want to work!. I am being followed by GI closely to make sure my colon can stay moving at least a little so I hopefully can stay ou of the hosp for a little longer than a two weeks this time. My stomach still hurts quite a bit, the pain clinic that follows me changed my medsaruond to help with that, they feel I have become insensitive to the one I was on and by switching I can become more sensitive once again. I hope it works. Well thats it for me, just thought I would update whats been going on for anyone who was wondering
