OT- My Scary Weekend

On Thursday my husband wasn't feeling well and just looked sick, which he rarely ever is in the 12 years I've known him he's only missed 3 days of work.  He's a very stubborn person so I tried to get him to go to urgent care but he wouldn't.  He woke up at 2am Friday morning and I knew he had a very high fever and was throwing up which is not a good sign but he insisted he had to go to work and left for work.  After he finished work at noon he FINALLY went to urgent care and they told him to go to the Emergency Room right away because they thought he was having appendicitis.  He called me and told me he was headed to the ER and I told him to at least let me take him there.  He let me do that and I got him to the emergency room and it was a LONG wait about 3 hours into our waiting he started to go in shock it was the scariest time of my life.  They got him into a room in the ER and started to treat him but we were there until 1am before they finally got him admitted to the hospital.  He had surgery (with Dr. Jones who did my WLS) at 2am and found out his appendix probably had burst days before.  After surgery he had a very high fever in the 104's and it was so scary I wasn't sure he was going to make it.  Finally on Monday he started feeling better and his fever is gone.  So today I'm getting the best Christmas present ever my husband is coming home from the hospital.   I really hope he's learned his lesson about going to the doctor sooner rather than later!!!!

Sorry to hear about your weekend.  Wow, I think our husbands might be twins!  Mine is pretty stubborn as well when it comes to dealing with medical/health.  I'm glad to hear that everything turned around for the better and he is coming home.

Merry Christmas!

Holy moley... That was scary!!  I'm sorry he went through that, but yeah, my DH is the same.  Afraid he'll get there and find out it's nothing, then he'll feel like a hypochondriac.

You ARE lucky to be getting him home - baby him for a while.  But once he's back to normal, remind him that from NOW on, he WILL listen to his better half when it comes to medical issues!  Hard for him to argue that now....

Merry Christmas, Kathy

That is scary!  I don't how he got through the pain of it, especially since it burst days earlier.  I had mine out 3 years ago and mine hadn't burst yet, but the pain was SO severe, any teeny bump in the road or swerve on the way to the hospital I was DYING.  I'm so glad he's recovering and you'll have him home for Christmas.

I'm sorry you had to go through such an ordeal, but glad he is home and on the mend!!  Isn't it nice to know that our WLS surgeons are multi-talented??

Have a very Merry Christmas!

My husband came home on Tuesday afternoon he's doing a lot better but still in a lot of pain. We had a very quiet Christmas and I was just so thankful he was there to share it with me.  I think something like this just makes you appreciate your friends and family so much.  Opened my eyes to how strong my husband is and all he does around the house for me.  At least he's now letting me take care of him for once.  He thought he would go back to work on Monday but luckily his boss convinced him to take next week off  so I'm glad he's going to get all the rest he needs.  Thanks for all your thoughts hope you all had a wonderful Holiday.
