There is an air about me...!
I'm only 6 days out from lap rny with Dr. Todd Kellogg and this is my first ever post here. Everything is going well with my clear liquids and i'm tolerating everything i've eated or should i say drank so far. My question is this. Is it common to have exorbitant amounts of gas? When it escapes me i feel like a ballon that is having its air released and i'm afraid i'lll start flying around the room....Hahaha. I konw that some gas is common and its good that i'm getting rid of it but i'm just surprised about the amount. Is this common?
HI,
My overall experience was good and i was only in the hospital for 3 days. I could have gone home sooner but as my surgery had taken 8 hrs due to severe adhesions, surgery was more difficult. Therefore they gave me an extra day to recover. I am glad cause i really felt the pain from all the internal work they had to do. But, I love Dr. Kellogg, he is very through, conpassionate and has a great beside manner. He was the one who decided to keep going with the lap instead of an open procedure. He felt it was healthier for me. So I feel he is very thoughtful when it comes to making decisions regarding your health.
Hope that helps

The liquids were okay but on the 7th post op day i advanced to pureed foods. Mistake. I had some cottage cheese today and mustn't have chewed it well enough and some got caught. Oh my the pain. It lasted for several hours and i was finally able to expel the beastie and was fine. worst couple of hours I ever spent. You can be assured i will chew chew chew from now on.
Oh yeah, the gas is like an unenvited guest that stays too long, lol. The more you walk, the faster it will leave... at least that's how it was for me.
