The Loser's Bench feels GREAT!!!

Thank you everyone for all the well wishes, calls, cards, visits, etc. during my hospital stay! I am so appreciative for your friendship!

My family was able to come and pick me up from the hospital around Noon today and I was really nervous as we headed out. But I knew everyone's got to cross this bridge sooner or later. The ride home went well and hubby didn't hit too many potholes - just a few and said "it's part of the recovery". LOL!

So far so good on the foods - still feeling most comfortable with my diluted apple juice and SF popsicles, but did manage a little Cream of Chicken soup today as well. I am considered to be onto the pureed stage now but haven't felt much like anything more dense quite yet. Still trying to figure out hunger and fullness. I suspect that will take quite a while to figure out yet.

We passed Arby's on the way home though and I've got to say it sounded good - just a slice or two of the roast beef, but I told DH not even to start. I've been fast food free for over a week now and I want to try to keep it that way!

My incision is definitely healing as it's starting to get itchy. That's a good sign I'm guessing.

Dr. B. was awesome and fixed a hiatal hernia while he was in doing the Switch. I am hoping this resolves my heartburn that I've suffered with for so long! It's been so nice not to have any since surgery so am hoping it worked!

Got in plenty of walking while in the hospital and took advantage of physical therapy and occupational therapy while I was in. If you're laparoscopic, you probably weren't in long enough but I would highly encourage anyone who goes open to take advantage of it! PT was especially helpful. For 3 days, we worked on stairs and just enough to get me inside our house once home. That really paid off as it went better than I expected today.

Well, enough rambling, just wanted to give a better update now that I'm officially home & a LOSER!!! Yay! The bench feels awesome!!!

I'm glad you are doing so well.  Go slow and give your new stomach (do you call it a pouch with the DS?) time to heal.  I really look forward to hearing about your progress.  It's such a wonderful new world that has opened up for you.  Enjoy!!

Thanks Sandy!!! Am definitely going slow around the house. As nervous as I was to leave the hospital, it really is much better to be at home!!!

With the DS, we have a stomach, no pouch. I call it my tummy.

Oh Reenie, thank you!!!

I won't be sleeping in my bed quite yet - a little too flat for me so will take to the recliner tonight.

Thanks for moving on over!

Love ya girl!!!

I'm sure the at-home recovery will go much smoother! At least it smells better than the hospital!! Hate hospital smells. ick
