I am just starting and am hoping to join the losers bench.  I am doing my home work and was just wondering how those of you that are 2+ years post op with the Lap Band are feeling about your choice?  Are you happy?  Do you wish you would have tried another way?  Good or bad i want to hear what you think.

I'm going to encourage you to do two things for yourself!

#1: ask this question on the lapband forum where you may find more who are at the 2 yr. mark you're looking for.

#2: visit the revision forum and find out which surgery most revise to and why!

Don't go into surgery with any blinders on. Do your research now because while you may get a second chance with a revision, why chance it? Do it right the first time around! You have to live with the surgery you choose, so choose wisely and be educated so you know what you'll live like afterwards. That's JMHO.

Good luck!

Hello! Welcome! I am 7 months out with the band and almost 80lbs down. If you go to the LapBand forum (Amy posted a link for you), you will hear from tons of different bandsters that are very successful. It's a fantastic choice.. if it's the right one for you! It has a lot of wonderful benefits. Do always remember that any surgery forum you go to will sometimes have more negative posts than positive... but that's because the people who need help post more. :) See you on the  LapBand forum!! :)

2019: 11 years out and maintaining a loss of 150lbs.

Hi,
I had lap band surgery in Oct. of '06 and am very happy with my choice. I lost a total of 116 lbs. and am now maintaining. So far, so good! I wouldn't have chosen any other surgery. Do your research though so that you feel totally comfortable with your choice. Understand that weight loss with the band is usually a lot slower than with the other surgeries. The band is a tool - if you work with it, you will succeed. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.

Hi Jean
Thank you for the reply.  I appreciate it.  I have been doing a lot of research and i am still not quite sure.  I know i have to decide but i wanted to hear from people that are a few years out so i can see what they think.  How about the fills, how often do you need one?  Does the port bother you?  I have had people report that they are uncomfortable after the fill but i know how some people can be and i do take the advice with a grain of salt.  I see you had Dr. Baker.  He seems nice.  Did you have a good experience with him?   I am hoping to have my surgery this summer some time.  I am just getting starting with all the appointments.  It sometimes is a little scary.  Thank you for all your help.
Janet
